Would love to go but I have some commitments this week and weekend I can't get out of unfortunately. Looks like a great, fun town. So different in terms of population-size than Massachusetts or the Northeast in general. Brookings at about 24K is the 4th largest "city" in South Dakota. It looks like a nice college town. Has anybody here (beside our new SDSU friends) been to Brookings? www.sdstate.edu/visit-us/about-brookingswww.sdstate.edu/

Hey guys! Thought I'd drop in and give you some quick info since there were issues locating South Dakota on a map. (don't worry it happens a lot) This map should help -

Too funny.....nevah been to that part of the country, was supposed to go to Mt Rushmore a few years back for a wedding (not mine ) but they sadly called the wedding off. Pierre is literally smack-dab in the middle of the state isn't it?

If anyone has the chance to go....then go! I've been lucky enough to attend two games at North Dakota State ('11 vs Youngstown State and '19 vs South Dakota) and have spent considerable time in Minnesota, Montana (lived there) and North Dakota so I'm familiar with that part of the country. I'll be playing in NDSU's big golf tournament (The Scheel's Open) in Eden Prairie, MN in June. South Dakota State does not have the following that North Dakota State or the Montana schools have but it's still very strong by FCS standards. With that said, nothing about the atmosphere, even if it wasn't Covid times, would intimidate Holy Cross imo.
I personally love that part of the country! It might be cold and windy in the winter but the open expanse is simply beautiful! The drive across South Dakota is fantastic. The eastern half is flat plains then as you get closer to Chamberlain and the Missouri River (along I-90) the topography drastically starts to change. By the time you reach the Rapid City area it feels like you're officially in the intermountain west. I've driven across North and South Dakota; they're equally "cool". The Badlands are more impressive but the Black Hills are quite unique and "awesome" in their own way.
Brookings is home to Daktronics; the major video board company in the USA.

Brookings is home to Daktronics; the major video board company in the USA. Yeah we're pretty spoiled having them in town. Our board is like 50 yards wide -

Pierre is literally smack-dab in the middle of the state isn't it? For those making the trip, our State Capitol, Pierre, is not pronounced "Bismarck" or "pee-air", it is "peer". Closest I've been to Worcester was Boston where I ran into the guy who claimed to be the Man from Nantucket.

Never been to Brookings but to Sioux Falls literally dozens of times the past 12 years for work. Always stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown on the River. Walking distance to everything and Sioux Falls downtown has come a long way over the past decade. Lots of good bars and restaurants. We are staying there Saturday night after the game.
