I think it's classy (and maybe smart recruiting wise) to give kids a chance to play back home; also a reward for those parents that spend so much time traveling to Worcester to support their sons. I also want to see more games in the NYC area - no reason why we can't have both. I used to be gung ho about local games, but maybe not as much now. Particularly weary of UMass and BC in particular; who the heck are they to call the shots anyhow. The Beagles, for crying out loud, struggle to keep out of the cellar in the Boston area university standings, let alone the ACC. When was the last time they were the best team in Boston? Bleep them. Bleeped them for you. Was muttering it anyways.🙂

Several posters on the UMass board expect HC and the Minuteman to start a series next winter. When UMass plays HC at the DCU it is close to a neutral site. I would schedule that while students are on campus and bus them downtown en masse like was done for one BC game I recall or it could be a predominantly UMass crowd.

Playing in the Charlotte area would be a homecoming game for RJ, Gerrale and Nolan in North Carolina for their families. The game in the Tarheel state would not be targeted to specifically play on Austin’s new team. Which by the way, my opinion it would be a bad idea for Austin to play against his former team that he has spent four years giving his all to achieve success. I also thought it was a bad idea when HC played against UConn, in the Hartford Civic Center when RJ Evans was spending his fifth year and getting his grad degree. There are other teams in NC besides UNCC that HC can also play, .....Davidson, High Point, Elon, to name three whose schedules may be open. Across the border and near Charlotte, Winthrop University in Rock Hill South Carolina would also provide a close game for their families. Also, it appears that North Carolina is a targeted recruiting area for HC. Maybe we can find an under recruited athlete from Emsley Laney High School, who has not yet reached his potential. RJ was playing for HC that year. That game was played for one reason: $.

While this would be nice, I'm sure this is nowhere near the top of the scheduling priority list for Bill Nelson. Should we make it a point to also get games with Illinois, UNC Wilmington, St. Francis (Brooklyn), Fairfield, Lewis University, Pace, Grand Valley State and Eastern Michigan? Brett's brother? Former US Senator

If I were putting together next year’s schedule, one of the top priorities would be to schedule a game at UNCC for a variety of reasons. While we are at it, let's add Northeastern to the schedule. They should be on the sked every year anyways, with or without JP.

I forgot to add it's high-time some geographic sanity entered the picture for all colleges when it comes to scheduling as well as conference affiliation. I doubt the latter will happen but the former certainly can.

I doubt the latter will happen but the former certainly can. A good portion of it is strictly due to $. TV-motivated tournaments and marquee matchups have replaced many "intra-state" games and most certainly made a lot of the on-campus holiday tournaments (where you'd see a couple good teams perhaps and a couple weaker teams) obsolete. And more teams in a big conference, more conference games and less oocs.

Many of the closest D-1 teams are former D-2 schools, but at least they are close. For non revenue sports especially, driving time is not very productive. The Southern New England league with just D-1 teams from the Bay, Ocean and Nutmeg, er Constitution States would be great for some sports. HC would be at the geographic center. Baseball might come back at some schools. But how would schools break it to their main leagues?
Dear Sirs and Madams: We want a partial divorce.

How do think the baseball team liked that ride back from Annapolis last weekend. That must be 6-7 hours before the rest stops.

And we don't structurally compete well against service academies regarding financial aid. Basketball with full scholarships is a more level playing field (court). Providence College probably couldn't compete well in Big East Baseball without scholarships but maybe they could in a Southern New England League.

One drawback would be if there is tangible cachet to Holy Cross being a "Patriot League School" that would be diluted and perhaps there might be attractive full or substantial pay applicants who want to play a D-1 minor sport at a Patriot League School who might look elsewhere.
But I don't know how to measure that cachet or know if it actually exists specific to PL membership.

The opponents that will attempt to keep the Siena Saints and Coach Carm from winning their third straight MAAC regular season title will include St. Bonaventure, Holy Cross, Bucknell, Yale and maybe even Harvard. Maciariello is also trying to work in at least one "M.T.E." which stands for Multi Team Event. Listen to Coach Carmen Maciariello's full interview and where the Siena Saints Men's Basketball is in it's offseason program below. Interesting article, but how do schools not in the MAAC keep Siena from a third straight MAAC title?

Likely that HC will deliver such a beat down that Siena will lose all confidence and their season will spiral down
