A bit unusual for Patriot football (undergraduate transfer to Power Five FBS) but the extra Covid year and the new rule permitting immediate eligibility (one time transfer exemption) is definitely a part of it: Rutgers’ passing game just improved after adding junior wide receiver Brandon Sanders to its receivers corps through the transfer portal. A 6-foot, 205-pound junior, Sanders leaves Bucknell ranked seventh all-time in receptions with 125. He also shares the school’s single-game receptions (14 in 2019) record and is a two-time first-team All-Patriot League selection.
After dominating the FCS level, Sanders yearned for the chance to prove himself on football’s biggest stage. And it doesn’t get much bigger than the Big Ten.
Sanders has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s played both inside and outside receiver and brings a wealth of experience to the huddle. He will set foot on campus for the first time on May 20 for the Scarlet-White game.www.nj.com/rutgers/2021/05/rutgers-adds-all-patriot-league-wr-brandon-sanders-through-the-transfer-portal.htmlHero Sports does track FCS to FBS transfers (almost all are grad transfers): herosports.com/2021-fcs-to-fbs-transfer-portal-tracker-bzbz/

Interesting. Sanders had 23 catches for 264 yards and two TDs this Spring. Lyles had more receptions (31) and yards (291) but only 1 TD.

I don’t think Schiano is popular with a lot of people.

Greg Schiano Rutgers coach and a Bucknell alum might not be the must popular guy in Lewisburg right now No issues from anyone with Schiano. Sanders had already decided to leave for a grad degree, before he even talked to Rutgers. Schiano's son played for Bucknell the last four years and his daughter is going to play soccer for them starting in the fall. Both paid for by Schiano. He has also been a frequent donor. Schiano's wife, btw, is not only a Bucknell alum but also the daughter of Bison footballer Tom Mitchell, who played TE in the NFL for 12 seasons, including a couple of Super Bowls.

Schiano's wife, btw, is not only a Bucknell alum but also the daughter of Bison footballer Tom Mitchell, who played TE in the NFL for 12 seasons, including a couple of Super Bowls. Ahhh. The article I read and posted (above) said he was a Junior...made the assumption he was transferring as an undergraduate. I eyeballed the Bison roster to doublecheck (he's listed as a junior). I guess he is graduating early (that's gotta be very unusual for a football player there, I would imagine) after three years at Bucknell. Hero now has him as a graduate transfer. So two-time all-league first-team receiver Brandon Sanders announced his decision to commit to Rutgers as a preferred walk-on with two years of eligibility remaining...Sanders entered the NCAA transfer portal in late April, and he added a handful of FCS offers as well as Utah State. However, the former Philadelphia St. Joseph's Prep standout opted for the Power 5 option with Rutgers. 247sports.com/college/rutgers/Article/Brandon-Sanders-commitment-transfer-Rutgers-Scarlet-Knights-football-recruiting-165225676/
