I guess this will test how well the new grass field drains. Also, this may restrict available parking tomorrow.

Wondering if the Middle River will come up over its banks. Listening to scanner radio for the Worcester Fire Department, continuing rescues of people stranded in cars (8:30 PM).
Looking at the radar, heaviest rain seems to be moving east of Worcester. (8:45 PM)
Cambridge St impassable because of high water. (Two blocks north of Fitton).

From FB. Highland, Belmont and Shrewsbury streets are closed due to flooding. 290 is in gridlock..Water coming up thru manholes like gyesers! Cars stuck in the puddles all over the city, and power is out in many areas.. Doesn't sound pretty..The City has issued an alert and requests everybody to stay inside and off the streets...
"Millbury street by 146 is deep enough to sink a mini van....we detoured up vernon hill to avoid drowning"

Mini monsoon coming back home to Brookline from O'Hara's in Newton. Sounds like Worcester is worse - our pretty Fitton grass is about to get tested. Noticed slippery footing a few weeks ago vs Bucknell; Wade went down early.
We'll need to make adjustments before the game even begins because Bragalone is a dangerous mudder. A low, heavy, balanced center of gravity always does well in the slop.
Go Cross!

If HC believes the turf would be completely torn up they might postpone the game......although it is the final home game.

Was on campus last night for family weekend and it was adventurous. McCarthy Drive was a river with an awful lot of run off from the construction. The front and back side of Loyola had ponds of standing water that breached the front of the building, flooding portions of the first floor and basement. Power was off to the building. HC 19 lives in the basement of Loyola (east side of the building over the garage) but her room did not see any water. Others Were not so fortunate.
As we left at about 11:30, and the rain had pretty much stopped. There appeared to be some standing water on the baseball field. Not sure about Freshman field. As of this morning, minimal rain in the forecast until mid-afternoon.

Reports have Worcester with 5+ inches of rain. 10 miles SE of the Woo, my rain gauge showed about 3 inches. Some rain and drizzle predicted for today between 11:00am and 3:00pm.

But still not comparable to Dartmouth '66 game, right? I will be happy to take those same results. A very wet, but pleasant memory i told some of the coaches and players about that game in the morning before our game vs Dartmouth at homecoming, in the hope of extra motivation. Alas...

But still not comparable to Dartmouth '66 game, right? I will be happy to take those same results. You got that right! Remember it well! My date then, now my wife of 48 years, still laments the fact that her raincoat shrunk 2 inches! She still has not forgiven me for staying the entire game! My car (two tone Nash Rambler) was parked on College Hill right near the main gate!

We have also been married for 48 years...must have been that game! Not a Nash Rambler, but I wish I had that forest green Mustang again.
