Did anybody have a problem using the hockey ticket page when ordering season tickets?

I understand the need for "atmosphere" but with a lot of fans coming from the other New England schools, I bet tickets will be hard to come by. Too bad we don't have more like a 4000-5000 seat arena.

Now going to be played at DCU. I think it would be a better environment at the Hart but it should draw really well. Not full up the DCU, but probably better then some NCAA regionals at the DCU. We will see.

Seems like this would have made more sense from the beginning. October 8 and 9 feels very early for hockey. I’ll be in Worcester three weeks later to watch a football game at a baseball field.

Could this be a test for a possible move to Hockey East?

Could this be a test for a possible move to Hockey East? No. The tournament was originally set up for last year, and included Notre Dame. Notre Dame subsequently withdrew and HC had to get special permission to bring in a second team from HE to replace Notre Dame. Tournament rules were no more than one team per conference. ADMB then thought it would be great to have the tournament at the Hart. BC and NU are willing to play at the Hart ONLY because this tournament does not count against schedule caps. If it did, as ADMB said, and paraphrasing, they wouldn't give a game at the Hart the time of day because they don't like the ice sheet size.

Do we have a less than regulation size hockey rink? Inquiring minds want to know.

The official answer to Big Fan's question is no I guess. But what an opportunity for HC's players and new coaching staff to shine. Go Cross!

Do we have a less than regulation size hockey rink? Inquiring minds want to know. Minimum size is 85 feet wide. HC's rink is 85 feet wide. Other rinks have widths between 86 and 100 feet wide. (!00 feet wide is Olympic-sized.) I think the belief is that the 85 foot wide rink allows slower-skating teams to be more competitive, but I am ready to be corrected on that belief.

Northeastern's rink is 200 ft × 90 ft (I thought it was smaller actually) and BC's rink is 200' x 87'. That argument about those teams not wanting to play on that size ice is BS. BC went to Colgate in 2019-2020 which is 85 feet wide and Denver is also NHL sized.

HC has the opportunity to be creative regarding seating packages for the tournament with the Hart Arena just across the hall from the Rink. I can think of a few options.

What is the issue with the Rink? I did miss the recent update regarding the move to the DCU. The move -- made to keep an unparalleled fan and player experience at the forefront throughout the event -- comes following a delay in videoboard installations inside the Hart Center Rink and Arena due to COVID-19-related supply chain setbacks.

Just my gut feeling, but I really think/believe that they were regularly taking the pulse of the demand for tickets for this event along with maybe some input from the other schools involved which caused them to reconsider the location of such an event! They came to the conclusion that the event would be better held at the DCU.... larger crowds and greater revenue??? They then used the delayed video board installation as an excuse....

Finally a conspiracy theory that makes sense.😊 You have to think HC at least took an option of some sort on those dates at the DCU so they would be able to move the game if ticket demand warranted it. Then without the video board it was a no brainer. Football at Polar Park, Hockey at the DCU, the other games right on campus. It's all good and represents something to show recruits that other colleges might not be able to.

Anyone's guess as to what the break even point is - that is, how many over the Hart Center's capacity have to attend these games to achieve the same or better financial result? My guess is around 3,000 because the Hart Center is so small.

They rebuilt the rink at Matthews Arena in the last 20 years; before that it was similar to the old Boston Garden; that is, tiny*. Not surprising given that Boston Arena (the old name) was built in the same era as it's big brother. *length was a bit shorter, too; and the corners where the end lines intersected with the boards were cut off, creating some interesting bounces.

The Boston Arena was a dank place in the 1960's. My HS played tournament games there and at Boston Garden. The Arena had poor lighting and ventilation. It was like a cave in there.

My guess is around 3,000 because the Hart Center is so small. I think the challenge is that we can’t get anyone decent to come to the Hart Center. If we want to get a home game against a good team that casual fans want to see HC play, we have to play at the DCU and then it’s still probably a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 deal.
