Kalif went to the locker room with an apparent wrist injury after attempting to recover a fumble. Not sure if he returned or whether the injury is serious or not.

No word yet on the injury. Should be a practice report later today.
In the meantime, here’s a compilation of Kalif’s Titans highlights:

WOW! Kalif really does qualify as a bonified NFL player, doesn't he, even if he never played another down?

WOW! Kalif really does qualify as a bonified NFL player, doesn't he, even if he never played another down? His NFL career is now longer than average. With his play this year, it seems pretty likely he’ll stick around the league and get another contract for at least next year.

Kalif was listed as a limited participant in practice yesterday with a shoulder injury.

Stinks that this is the week Kalif is injured given that he’s from Georgia. I’m sure he’s had this one circled on his calendar for a while and would have a nice cheering section.

Is “questionable” NFL code for a more accurate term ? The injury designations used to be out, doubtful, questionable and probable. Probable got phased out because 90% of the time the player suited up, so in a way questionable could be considered the new probable but still safe to consider it as low as a 25% chance of playing up to about 90%.

In recent years I've come to understand "doubtful" as probably out and "questionable" as probably playing.

Good news. Kalif returns a punt for 19 yds. and then on the field for first Lions’ offensive possession.

Kalif’s average depth of target has to be 40 yards lower on the Lions than it was on the Titans. He gets a lot more targets but would be better if they’d throw it down the field to him once in a while.

Does Goff get the protection to throw long to anyone ? Can he make the long, accurate pass ?

Brings up a great point and something I’ve noticed the few games I’ve been able to watch: Kalif doesn’t just run routes and catch the ball, he aggressively blocks whether the play is to his side or not. He does whatever he can for the Lions.

Kalif was taken off of the Covid list yesterday and should be good to go for the season finale.

In most recent NFL stats (through Week 17), Kalif leads the NFC in avg. yds. per punt return and is third in the NFL.

From a personal perspective, I hope the Lions re-sign him. He’s been one of the few bright spots in another dismal Lions’ season. I think it’s likely that the Lions will try to re-sign him. By all accounts, he is one of Dan Campbell’s favorite players and he contributes on offense as well as special teams. OTOH, Kalif may want to sign with a team that is more likely to be playoff bound. We’ll see.

For as many times as he’s been cut, I suspect Kalif will sign with the team that he believes is most likely to keep him on the active roster for the entire season. I think he will decide that team is the Lions.
