Did TG turn down an offer from Yale to stay at HC when the job was open in New Haven?

That was the story at the time. I never did ask him if there was any truth to that.
I do know that he loved Holy Cross and still has a soft spot in his heart for the College, if not some of the Administrators and certainly not for the outgoing (gone already?) Admissions Director.
I do know that he expressed some regret that he didn't move to greener pastures when we won the PL championship and his stock was rising (Yale, maybe?). This was a few years later when the program was faltering. But his loyalty came through and didn't want to leave when he could have.

Never heard about the Yale offer. He was interviewed for the Yale position but was not offered the job. There were rumblings that he would be a great fit for the Columbia job (i.e. resurrecting a dumpster fire program like he did at HC) but CU hired Al Bagnoli fairly swiftly. Obviously, Bagnoli had a tremendous winning resume in the Ivy prior.
