Thanks Do you know why those cuts were not made in the fall ? Not sure, but would suspect it has something to do with injuries or another factor that would lead the coaching staff to want to wait & see before making any decisions. Not sure if this is a written or unwritten rule, but generally injured players are not cut while rehabbing. Plus you have the option to redshirt and thereby free up an active roster spot if the injury would cause a player to miss significant portion of the season. I don't know of any particular players' injuries, however, so this is all speculation at this point. It would perhaps explain the delay though...

I’m not sure why a team would make their cuts before they have to, which is essentially right before the season starts.

An important distinction: we're not necessarily talking about walk-ons trying out for the team here... We're most likely dealing with upperclassmen, who have been on the team for for 1-2 years and will find out soon that they're cut.

I wonder if we will send our roster to Sugar Land in time to be listed in the program for game 1 ?

I hope they don't cut a loyal junior in favor of a freshman who puts up some stats for a season and then enters the portal.

Is Holy Cross out there on Fitton scrimmaging today? Serious question—Did you shoot HC games at one time and did they then pull the business?

Better attend in disguise. Facial recognition similar to MSG in New York, may be deployed to screen persona non grata visitors.😊
Fitton Field has a unique historic legacy, 117 years old, home of the only D1 team in the Northeast to win a National Championship and hosted Baseball All Time Legends……Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig and Casey Stengel in competition.
When Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are converted to artificial turf, then a remote maybe, HC should consider a change. 😊
Until then….”If a horse won't eat it, I don't want to play on it.” Richard Anthony Allen.

That is good for them. Rhode Island and UConn were tweeting out pictures from scrimmages outdoors on campus this weekend. By having a grass field, HC is falling behind local teams.

I don’t want to see them change the field, but I agree it hurts them, especially during their southern trips. I’m sure they could use the Northboro turf fields, not sure why they didn’t. It was warm enough for me to golf this weekend, so it was certainly warm enough for outside baseball practice.

Per the roster, it looks like Wang and Kirkpatrick have rejoined the team. Great pickups back to the program.

What roster are you looking at ? Only the 2022 roster is available on the baseball page - I fear you’re looking at that one

Tough to lose Wang, but I am afraid that is a done deal.

Just to confirm, there were five baseball alumni who attended the baseball/softball alumni event this past week. That is down from the average of 50-75 who attended the baseball dinner yearly prior to this.
A little shocking that our coach will be entering his fourth season this year on the field as our manager and we had five alumni at our baseball yearly event.
Rock bottom.

That is low but does that really make a difference about how the team plays this season?

UCONN is brought up often in these threads. Each year, they have former players return to engage with the new team, teach and provide their perspective on how to succeed. Not having that at HC could have long term impacts, not only with financial support, but in recruiting and retaining talent.

I've been to maybe 10 of them in the past, always filled the Hogan Ballroom, had interesting speakers, and a fun night all around. I had absolutely zero interest in going to Polar Park for a 2 hour cocktail party. I guess I wasn't the only one.

Next year back to campus with a known speaker and a lower price tag
