That’s the final score - Big Green was a 17 pt favorite coning off their win at UNH - crazy result but good for the Lions - believe their QB is a transfer from an FBS school

Game was in Germany? Guess Columbia adjusted to the jet lag better than Dartmouth.

I'm going with Al Bagnoli because of the subject of this thread. But Murphy is in that group as well.

Murphy's won 215 games, Bagnoli 261. Bagnoli coached D3 Union, so if you only want to count D1 wins, he has 175.
Teevens is a distant third.

For what it is worth, Bagnoli is a better recruiter than Murphy. He charmed my parents at our dinner table. Murphy came off as a bit awkward and uncomfortable at the house, but obviously, it is easier to recruit when you are selling Harvard vs. XXXX (Penn at time). Obviously more so with respect to Columbia.

I believe many of us on Crossports would like to see the football series continued with both UNH and Dartmouth.
Seems a shame that Dartmouth and Buddy would rather fly to Indiana to play Valparaiso, than take a short trip to Worcester. From reading reports over several years, I believe the decision was unilateral on Dartmouth’s part to suspend the series in order to play PFL and NEC teams.
It was a enjoyable early fall trip in October, driving up I91.

The Valpo trip confirms what I read a few years ago, that they plan to broaden their OOC schedule to increase national exposure for Dartmouth and strengthen alumni relations. They only have three OOC games per year, so HC is a logical choice to drop for a while. Apparently more people have heard of Dartmouth in MA than Indiana, Florida and CA, so we don't add as much value. Goodbye Big Green, welcome Merrimack. I liked the tradition, but it's also nice to play someone who wants to play us. Another possible consideration is that during Dartmouth's stretch of FB Futility, they wanted to add easier opponents.

Dartmouth was not competitive against FCS teams with scollies, which was why HC and UNH were dropped in favor of non-scollie FCS schools. Most of the alumni want the IL to go to an 11 game schedule, and start practice at the same time as the rest of FCS.

When one calculates what I think is known as "scholarship equivalencies", I bet some of the Ivies are closer to FBS than FCS.

I believe it has been that way for some time. The IL is adept at using semantics to cover a multitude of truths about the nature of their "non-scholarship" teams.

What Ivy League coach has more wins than 98% of all the active coaches in he country? This thread escaped my attention, sorry! Of course I was thinking about Bagnoli, who, much to my surprise, has been incredibly successful and under the radar at both Penn and now Columbia. As an aside, I stopped in to see my old coach, Cliff Schwenke at Penn when I had a couple hours to kill before going to a heart procedure across the street many years ago. Bagnoli, who I had never met before, stopped in and we chatted for quite a while. He is a nice guy and I could sense he could recruit.
