The two coaches mentioned who were lights out at Bowdoin and Scranton are following a career path similar to Coach Chesney of HC FB. However despite these examples of success with that model HC seems determined not to repeat it with new coach and AD hires since Chesney arrived. No coach or AD has built their own successful franchise in a lower division before arriving, they have all been D-1 subordinates that I can think of.
The freshman class Coach Magarity inherited last year (McCormack, Allen, BBC, Davis) contributed more sooner than her own recruited freshmen have so far this year. But is it too early to judge that or are there fewer openings this year?

My own view is that it is way too early to judge this first recruiting class. It is disappointing that not one of them has emerged to push for time, especially on a team with some opportunities. But we're just getting started. I imagine it's tough for the new faces to start their college experience in a pandemic, with a new team, and far from home. It's expected that some time is needed. And that's for some and not for others sometimes. Also....a new coach has to be sensitive the first time they bring their own recruits into the mix, especially if they're not yet establishing themselves as first rotation players. We'll know a lot more about them when we're about halfway through conference play.
