Didn't even need to hike the ball as time running down and Lehigh wasn't about to call a time out. If that wasn't just a misunderstanding of the situation, it was a bush play and lucky Siderman didn't get hurt.

Analyst: Sluka doesn't seem that quick. I think it's his mind that is quick in situations when many are reacting with adrenaline, he's playing chess. Then on the sidelines he can fire back at his OC. BINGO--agree 100%. I love on his running plays where he seems to be going slowly--waiting for a block or something to develop and then a side step and he's off to the races. He is playing chess-great metaphor.

He and HC seemed less under control today than usual.

GU down 1 w/7 seconds left and going to try for a 50 yard FG.

A win is a win. "But... Did HC play championship football today? HC is still a work in progress. Some might opine that HC is overrated. Lafayette? FU & the Morant passing game will pose a big time headache for this team. Chesney has not brought home the bacon. Mr. Gloom personified. Mr. Optimism would say Lafayette struggled mightily against G Town and Lehigh's offense had their way against the Rams.

GU FG attempt no good (partially blocked?) so Laffy wins by 1. Let's beat them next week!

FINAL SCORES: Colgate 33 / Bucknell 10 - FINAL Lafayette 24 / Georgetown 23 - FINAL Holy Cross 31 / Lehigh 12 - FINAL and tied for 1st in the PL at 3-0. Yes, Georgetown's fg attempt was partially blocked and time ran out. Lafayette now 3-1 in the PL.

Laffy up 24-23 with a little over 5 minutes left after a FG and GU getting the ball back. GU lost by 1. Played very conservatively at the end, relying on a kid to kick a 50 yard field goal, which either missed badly or was blocked.

Congrats Holy Cross! Did what they had to do against an incompetent team! He's a bum.. Stay classy. I am! I could have said even more "choice" words. He's a terrible Division 1 football coach. Has no business being one. Any coach who has address his anger issues at his introduction press conference should never have been hired in the first place. His record speaks for itself. He's a loser and the sooner he's gone from South Mountain the better. Holy Cross went through this crap far too long. Hopefully, Lehigh ends it at the end of the season. 1-10 or 0-11 is a lock imo.... To watch Chesney just clown him 3 years in a row is poetic justice for all involved...

Although declining in number year by year, Chesney has won each time with Gilmore recruits. Do Gilmore's recruits look promising at least at Lehigh?

We've debated Tom Gilmore's record on this forum for a long time.
Bottom line is that HC is much more talented and talent wins. Want to argue who's the better recruiter....that's Chesney by a mile.

No argument but hoping TG is bringing something of value to LU. It's been shown his recruits are D-1 players even though Owl feels TG is not a D-1 coach, which may be true.

FU & the Morant passing game will pose a big time headache for this team. Chesney has not brought home the bacon. When Chesney brings home the bacon, Sluka will fry it up. I like the two headed monster at QB, but Sluka is a more exceptional playmaker with his feet than Siderman is with his arm if I had to choose one over the other. 100% agree last three games. He is an amazing runner and Roper needs to find a way to work him into that role. 2 losses we had Sluka was ineffective and could not breakthrough. HC needs to stretch the field and if we can’t do it against Lehigh could be a bigger issue next two games.. the couple long balls Sluka threw today were under thrown and one was a pick but called back on a penalty. He had 27 yards rushing today that’s not a lot but made them count which is why you want him on field.

Congrats Holy Cross!…Holy Cross needs to find more speed/explosive players on offense if they want to compete nationally. They're solid but continue to be far from spectacular. Definitely not Colgate 2018 or some of those Fordham teams under Moorhead...at least yet.... I’d agree we need a burner in the backfield (and elsewhere) to get it done in the FCS playoffs. As far as our PL and FCS OOC goes, we’ve got enough speed to compete and (mostly) win.

I think Coker is a legit, very good FCS WR that can stretch the field.....that being said, our passing game seems to go stagnant too often....TEs underutilized, predictable routes too often etc etc...that being said, I am not an OC nor do I play one on TV.

Agree. Sluka gives HC the best chance to win. We will see if HC has a championship football team. FCS playoffs? We'll see what Lafayette & especially FU have to say. Tom Gilmore is definitely not a bum. It hurts me for anyone on this board to say this. He is a fine man who bleeds purple more than many alums. Obviously I am delighted with an HC win but take no pleasure in a Gilmore loss. No doubt his tenure at Lehigh is coming to an end. Life.

I thought Lehigh defensed the HC run game very well. The run game was ineffective,
Oliver had a net 29 yards on 10 carries; Purdy, 8 carries for 21; Fuller 5 carries for 10 yards. And Sluka with three sacks, had a net of 27 yards. Sluka's net offensive production was 71 yards; --that total for a starting QB and the team's leading rusher simply doesn't cut it at any level.
22 penalties, 11 against each side. Lehigh's assessed 97 yards in penalties; their total net offense was 121 yards.
I thought the HC play-calling left a lot to be desired. Sluka, to me, has demonstrated he cannot throw an accurate long ball.
The Lafayette and Fordham coaches will get a good look at how to stymie HC's offense off this game. We'll see if they can follow through on that.

Other than Ng, special teams were terrible today.
No idea why we didn’t take a knee on the second to last play or why we even ran the last play. I know there was a lot of yapping out there all day but take a knee and move on.

Back from the game. Without reading all of the comments, it was indeed a comedy of errors. I thought HC's offensive line would dominate, but that was not the case. Two short-field scores was the difference. Odd that HC did not go into "victory formation" at the end. Glad to get out of the Lehigh Valley with a win. I don't know what the official attendance was today, but it was definitely the smallest crowd I have seen for an HC-Lehigh game since the "monsoon game" of 2009? Lehigh admin does a nice job with an assortment of food trucks around the perimeter of the stadium entrance. Ticket was a very reasonable $14. Nice turnout of HC folks, mainly parents and relatives of the players.

The ESPN+ broadcast hinted that if one subtracted the Lehigh band, HC supporters numbered about the same as Lehigh's fans.

We ended up winning by a "comfortable" 31-12 score.
That said, Lehigh has unquestionably had a terrible year and that ultimately falls on the head coach. But while we didn't have our best game, Lehigh showed that they are significantly better than they were in the beginning of the year. They are trending positively but run out of gas in the 4th quarter.
To wit: Holy Cross and Fordham are the pre-season PL favorites and, so far, there has been nothing to question that. But, Lehigh had a shocking 28-21 lead against Fordham into the 4th quarter despite missing 2 field goals and was tied 28-28 with just 3:57 to go in the game which they lost 35-28.
Today against the Crusaders they were down just 14-12 and only down 9 in the 4th quarter before eventually losing 31-12.
They have Bucknell, Georgetown and Lafayette left on their schedule. I would not be surprised if they won their last 3 games against these lesser opponents.
