Yday was a very sloppy game by any measure - after running the ball down Colgate's throat we managed only 78 yards on the ground and 233 total yards also, how often to you see 22 penalties (evenly split) in a game Yes, we won but our offensive performance was really disappointing which surprised me

Announcers implied that Oliver was not 100%.

Heard a reference to a groin pull, but Oliver came back in after that.

Done! The way I look at it, I can't lose and HC is the winner in any case.

A little fun gamesmanship that also highlights Gilmore's ineptness. This was referenced in the Georgetown thread but not in this context. If the offense substitutes, the umpire stands by the center to give the defense a chance to sub. Against G-town, we sub'd late. their coach yells a play that their biggest lineman slowly runs into the game, with their sub waiting as long as possible to sub out. We were screwed--our choices were illegal sub penalty, delay of game penalty or timeout. It was genius and really funny to watch, other than being a HC fan.
On Saturday, Gilmore tried the same thing, but the defense has to react quickly. We sub'd late, Gilmore started yelling and some dude from three rows deep slowly runs out--but it was too late, the umpire had already stepped away from the center. Lehigh has 12 players on defense, penalty on Lehigh, HA!
G-town ran it perfectly. Gilmore, 5 seconds late--not surprising. Anyone else notice this?

Sounds like that made your day. I rather enjoyed that Holy Cross won. That was good enough for me. But I'm pretty easy to please being from the td128 school of thought: "just win!"

You're trying to jinx me, aren't you? The first 2, (Bucknell & GU next week) should be the easiest of the 3 with Lafayette being the hardest even putting all records aside being their big rivalry game. I won't be surprised if our bet comes down to that game.

Okay-- one Lehigh game to go--and against its eons-long rival Lafayette. Looks like a tossup. I am getting my checkbook ready just in case....

Would Lehigh's winning out be enough to keep TG around another year?

I think it would, especially with one of those wins coming against Laf

Think that’s close to a certainty. Think back in the day when we played BC every year. If we had a bad year but beat BC, would have been hard to fire an HC coach.

Would Lehigh's winning out be enough to keep TG around another year? IMO the improvement shown should be enough to keep Gilmore's job safe for one more year, which I believe is the final year of his contract. I cant see Lehigh extending him unless Lehigh makes another quantum leap next year. He's just not the long-term answer at this point in his career at a school thats supposed to be a flasghip football program in this league.

Gone but not forgotten. It was fitting & just for Coach Gilmore to be replaced at HC. It was a move in the best interests of both. Nonetheless, I respect Coach Gilmore immensely as do many HC folks. No matter where he goes he will always be close to the hearts of many of us.There was no more loyal Crusader than TG. Somehow in someway, some day I wish HC could welcome him home and show him our respect & love.

Just how bad is that place anyway?

Everything at Holy Cross should be first class, including the visitors locker room.

I for one will be rooting for Lehigh on Saturday and hoping that TG gets recognition for the improvement that Lehigh has shown over the course of the season. We should remember that the Lehigh roster is very heavy on underclassmen, with only something like 7 or 9 seniors. That would be a challenge for any coach in this league.

Rumor has it that bfoley got....well....a little hangry one infamous afternoon at Fitton Field a couple decades ago.

That facility was built for a professional team so they must have Showers, changing and training facilities you would think. Although they have a tent up in season also. I thought that was for cookout type dining. There is also room under the stands all around the FB field but perhaps the flood plain and ADA prevents adding major new facilities.

While I agree that the Mountain Hawks running the remaining table is improbable, I like the 20-1 odds you are giving. How about a $5 wager and the loser sends the winnings to Holy Cross to whatever fund he chooses? I'd wager more but don't want to put you in a $100 financial hole, though I know you are good for it. And since you are our odds-maker expert, what are the odds that IF Lehigh runs the trifecta that they keep Gilmore or still terminate him after the season recognizing that beating Lafayette is like a Crusader team beating BC? I think the odds are greater than 20-1 but I figured I could get some action at 20-1 and it looks like I did. $5 is a paltry sum, and I can't imagine a man of your standing writing a $5 check--let's make it your $25 versus my $500. Just made a $500 grant Crusader Athletics Fund--HC Football Team
