Bucknell is horrific....this HC team is very good but it's not as talented/deep as the 1980s HC FCS teams. Those HC teams were legit at the top of 1-AA....this team is very solid but not at the very top i.e. Top 5/10 of FCS football just yet. You're absolutely right. Totally different landscape in 2021. We were in 1986-1987 largely where Marshall was at in the mid-1990's. Or where a program like South Dakota State is at today. Can't even start to compare Chesney's current teams to Duffner's until we advance to the quarters at least in the FCS playoffs. I'll take any win though. Just get that monkey off our back, please! A program as storied as Holy Cross needs to erase the historical I-AA/FCS playoff donut. Why is Bucknell so bad at football year after year? I don't get it. School is located in the shadow of Happy Valley, the Friday Night Lights shine bright in the western part of PA when it comes to recruiting, school is fairly strong in just about every sport they play in the PL from basketball to baseball to lacrosse to track. Don't get it. I’d take Duff’s teams by 3 TDS. No offense but that’s my truth. Dominant in all 3 phases.

Think about how we'd match up v James Madison or Montana State, etc this year. And how we did v SDS last year (31-3). Would be north of 3 IMHO. (Put a top FCS QB on our squad and a burner in the backfield that margin tightens up quite a bit.)

Here's one anecdote to describe how good Duffners teams were:
In 1986, a William & Mary team that made the I-AA playoffs upset Virginia in Charlottesville. 2 weeks later they hosted Holy Cross in Williamsburg and we won 31-7.
Unfortunately a big piece of what makes this team seem "so dominant" is the fact that there's almost no competition in the Patriot League. It won't remain this easy once Colgate and Lehigh turn it around.

Speaking of injuries at Fordham…how are our two guys that got tended to on the field? TE Sean Morris and OT Pat McMurtrie? Both walked off under their own power and were on the field for the post game celebration so hopefully both are ready for the playoffs at the latest.

Morris had an ankle injury I saw him in the Fordham gym during the storm break. He was not limping. His family thought it was not serious.

We kicked the crap out of them. 17-0 at one juncture and they ran the kickoff back a long way to set up a TD. Place was jumping. Lockbaum returned the favor on the next kickoff. Game over.

Haven't been there is a while and usually my trips there are for basketball but believe the playing surface is nothing like at Fordham. To summarize, for me: #1. Fitton #1A. URI #3. Anywhere reasonably drivable #4. Sacramento State (for history) #5. Anywhere else From what I read, Meade got artificial turf 2 or 3 years ago. Should be in very good condition.

Fitton got a video board and no lights, no rug. The proper order imo.

Never watched a URI football game but in the background you can see where they play basketball which we've discussed in the past. It's nice and large but similar criticism to Polar Park that some folks think it looks like it was built on the cheap. You get a nice view of the football field from inside the Ryan Center.

Will URI lend Greg Burke to us for Matt Sluka's Walter Payton Award publicity campaign his Junior and Senior year?

Will URI lend Greg Burke to us for Matt Sluka's Walter Payton Award publicity campaign his Junior and Senior year? Are you insinuating Charlie Bare isn't up to the task?

Sir Charles can always use an experienced consultant to lend a hand. Greg Burke wrote the manual on how to entice the national media to Worcester. I always liked Greg's wife, announcer Doris Burke until I found out they were divorced. Then the bloom was off the rose.

You can throw the record books out the window for this game. Somewhere around Scranton.😂

Just got an email from Coach Chesney and not going to copy and paste it all, just this:
"Wheels roll to Lewisburg, PA early Friday morning for our third trip to Bucknell in as many years. We are all hyperaware of the 2009 team’s trip to Bison Country and we are set on not allowing what happed then, to happen again."

I see that the game is another 1 pm start. Does Bucknell have lights ? I do not understand why any eastern afternoon game in late November does not start at noon or 12:30 at the latest.
