Any word on an HC Tailgate or Reception at this game? Thanks. As far as tailgating goes, I was told it is only permitted in their S-1 lot and that lot only accommodates about 90 vehicles. Not sure if those spots are already spoken for by season ticket holders or if they are first come, first serve. Parking is available elsewhere at a cost of $20. villanova website says tailgating is permitted 4 hrs. before kickoff. www1.villanova.edu/villanova/parking/information/ParkingLotMap.htmlThe S-1 lot is at the west end of the campus, the stadium is at the east end. Tailgating there (the S-1 lot) would be like HC restricting tailgating to the new lot on the east side of Luth, which holds 90-100 cars. I think on Sundays, this S-1 lot is used for parking for Sunday mass.

“ I presume he means after the game on Friday and return at 5am on Saturday”
Yes, obviously forgot game on Friday or the bus trip home would be taking over 24 hours.

Maybe Villanova is exiling HC fans so far away that they either won't tailgate, or never get to the game. The main tailgate lot is the A-2 parking lot, which is next to the north side of the stadium on Google maps. Access via Ithan Ave. The other 'tailgate' is a campus green in the middle of campus. Probably not a tailgate location for a December night game. goo.gl/maps/fbbtcga9VWQpHYQ9A

I hope the staff of the relatively nearby PL headquarters can get to the game and feel good about the PL advancing in an NCAA tournament.

Philadelphia rush hour is a nightmare -- heavy traffic will begin around 4pm and will remain heavy until almost 7pm. If you are coming from New England, be aware that there is a lot of construction on 95 south once you hit Bucks County -- and it will impact your travel time. Bottom line, better to get there early and relax, than to be stuck in traffic and get to the game late. Oh, and use Waze.

I just fired off an email to Nick Smith and copied the appropriate people including Bob Chesney, Vince Rougeau & Silver Fox, asking them to confirm or deny the rumor and, if a financial issue, how we can help make this happen. If I don't get a response from at least one of them, I will be greatly disappointed. Heck, since I'm not going personally to the game, I'd be happy to send them what it would cost me to go myself. Crickets???

Just got back from watching a little of the practice. The team is excited and ready to go! Got to meet Coach Chesney.
He said he was excited to be practicing in December. That doesn't happen often!

Traffic from NYC won't be too bad. West on PA TP (276) to 476, a few exits south. Campus is right off highway. Bad traffic will be up 476 from airport and out 76 from center city Philly.
I talked with the ticket office. Tailgate situation is not good. Lot A2 is sold out for season ticket holders. Another area across from the stadium that they use during the regular season is not open for this game. Not sure why. Another lot adjacent to the basketball arena is used for staff on Fridays and not available for this game. The designated lot is across campus and down a hill--more or less a commuter lot for the SEPTA train, under the overpass for Spring Mill Road. I complained and the guy listened but offered no solutions. If you don't want to tailgate, there are two garages close to the stadium. He said they are strict on tailgating, no room to even put a table out. They also expect one car per space. Large vehicles using more than one space is $100.
Campus is beautiful and worth a walk-around. Basketball arena is right next to football. Should be open to see some NCAA trophies. Cathedral is the pride of campus. Graduates getting married there is a really big deal.

At least one site has the game fairly close: Prediction - Villanova 24, Holy Cross 13 3 Key Factors - 1. Both offenses will seek balance and efficiency given the defenses rank first (Holy Cross, 253.4) and second (Villanova, 254.9) in the FCS, respectively, in fewest yards allowed per game. 2. The visiting Crusaders have not been fazed by road games, going 6-0 to tie for the best mark in the FCS (also Eastern Washington). It includes wins at UConn, Yale, Monmouth and Fordham. 3. Perhaps it's overlooked because he spent two seasons at Campbell, but Villanova third-year quarterback Daniel Smith Jr. is tied for the most total touchdowns among active FCS players (138 via passing, rushing and receiving). He produced five in his only career playoff game in 2019. www.inforum.com/bison-media-zone/mens-sports/football/7304726-FCS-second-round-playoff-preview-capsules

Interesting that Villanova's lack of an AI apparently hasn't harmed their academic reputation or graduation rates for athletes -- Yes. Leaving some discretion in the hands of the college president to make a case-by-case close call at a place like Nova or Richmond or William and Mary (or Stanford or…) strikes me as common sense. And our academic reputation was higher before we had the AI. If Villanova smacks us around there will certainly be questions as to whether the PL (AI, non-medical redshirts, roster limits) is a roadblock to top tier FCS. Of course, if we win that is a hopeful message in the other direction. I’d like to see us (and PL) make the changes necessary to facilitate FBS schollie transfers into HC.

One thing to consider: There's no way that the football players are going to sit two-by-two on buses to Philly, so the calculus isn't as simple as 56x4. More importantly, between the Gridiron Club and posters to this forum, raising $5-6,000 should take about ten minutes. If someone wants to put something together I'll seed the pot with $100. Every player should be on the trip. 56 x 4 = 224 seats. I think the NCAA took the size of some football players into account in the bus allowance. For most sports, the allowance is one bus, as the official party is often less than 40. And there is less allowance for open seats when it comes to plane charters, or traveling commercial (unless you charter the Kraft Air Force at a discount). You are not allowed to sell tickets on the plane to boosters if the charter aircraft has more seats than the official party allowance. Are there different rules for football than basketball and/or have the rules changed since 2016? I was thrilled to have been offered the opportunity to purchase a seat on the charter flight to Dayton, Spokane and back to Worcester! One of the best purchases I ever made!!! But, maybe they didn't consider me a "booster"!!!
