I think we all agree this young man is an amazing talent. I've been trying to rack my brain to come up with someone who has/had a similar style. I finally thought of this guy:

Or a poor man's Bobby Douglass? Almost identical size, not nearly as fast but good open-field runner, same willingness to stiff-arm or invite contact. Love the highlight 30 seconds into the Douglass video when he gets his helmet ripped off, then still insists on lowering his head into a linebacker.

The guy that he reminds me of is Russell Wilson. Both have a great running style and are very mobile in and out of the pocket. One difference, however, is Sluka doesn't seem to like the "quarterback slide" when he is about to get tackled! He does the "Sluka slither", but when that option is foreclosed, he runs like a full back when he meets opposition head on.

At least one Pioneer tackler who made a one-on-one tackle of Sluka got injured yesterday.

In my mind, much of Sluka’s shifty moves and evasiveness derives from his having played lacrosse.

The coaches do not like that he will not slide.. It's incredible he has not gotten tagged yet this year but this is a week to maybe be a little more strategic when he goes on a run and has the decision to slide and take it. The odds are not in his favor to keep taking hits like this. Like to see him stay on field this week.

Sluka rushed for at least 100 yards against UConn, Fordham, Yale and Sacred Heart. He rushed for under 50 yards against Harvard and Merrimack. Monmouth is the one game where we beat a good opponent and Sluka didn’t rush much.

He's a marked man in every game... the 2 QB system give some protection... were both on the field for 1 play early in the 2nd half? a Siderman run?
His rushing could be more strategic/less reckless... maybe less so in the 2nd half when we're down

Gotcha let it rip!! The last two plays he did what he had to do and that is what makes him special. However the hits he takes when it is not necessary is what puts the team and most importantly himself at risk. That was my point but hey at this point let him do what he is going to do as there is no tomorrow! |

Didn't notice while at Fitton but on replay, twice #8 for Sacred Heart kept holding Sluka's leg well after play blown dead and at least one of those times, lifted Sluka's leg up and Matt said something to him and I think the ref as well. I think he may have also been the guy on the final drive that Matt ran over him and he got injured when Matt's thigh hit him in the helmet and the kid was hurt long enough that they had to break for a commercial. Might have been a little payback.  |

#3 took the hit from Sluka and stayed down on the ground. #47, #44, #95 would tackle Sluka and try to twist his feet on purpose, which the HC lineman would see and grab those players to get them off of Sluka. It was a chippy game. #47 definitely targeted Sluka on the side of his helmet, luckily Sluka did not get a concussion. I was not impressed with that crew of officials.....

Reminded me of the end of the UAlbany game, where an injury was their only strategy to avoid a loss
