On the other, prediction thread, as I write this, the picks are 7 for HC and 3 for Lehigh, so it would appear that most posters believe Holy Cross is improving.
If the Crusaders can win 2 in a row, that will likely boost their confidence going forward which IMO has been lacking. I posted on the women's board that Avery LaBarbera is the Austin Butler of the ladies team providing the leadership and spark needed at critical times. Not sure we've found that person yet on the men's team.

Let's hope the win over Lafayette was a small but significant confidence builder for our young lads. They have been through a lot as has our coach & his staff. One could sense the pressure they are dealing with. They are young with little playing time together. These guys play hard. Unending criticism solves nothing. I suspect they are harder on themselves than any commentator. They are students the age of our kids and grandkids. They are our future brother alums. Win or lose on the court these HC young men are winners in life.
PS Now about those perennially lousy Knicks, well...

In terms of shot selection, Lehigh will likely allow us to do what we prefer. Holy Cross takes 71% of its shots inside the arc, the 15th highest "two-point rate" in the nation. Lehigh is 358th (last) in "two-point rate" defense, permitting opponents to take 75% of their shots from two.

The men are scheduled Monday - Thursday - Sunday. The women are scheduled Wednesday - Saturday. Any particular reason for the difference? I like playing more now to have room to make up potential postponed games later.

Ahhh, another Ted Lasso fan!! For my money, the best show in many years. So good that my free Apple+ subscription from my new iPhone that expired might have to be renewed and paid for (!!!) when Ted comes back. In a world of cynicism and negativity, a refreshing change of pace.

See the difference a win can make. Following the win, Holy Cross slipped from #348 to #349 in KenPom.

So that's our strategy!! If you win, your ranking goes down, so it's best to lose?

If the rank actually meant anything, that could be true.

Relax
When we win 10 games we can discuss ranking. With a win in hand we must now learn how to win two games in a row
coaches need to build this a game at a time

This is a big game. Some positive momentum in league play is critical for this team and this program....

If you watch the Lehigh win over Colgate, it will definitely make you a bit nervous.
They are much taller than us. 90% of the playing minutes go to players 6'4" or taller.
Nic Lynch at 6'11" is a particular problem. Doesn't jump well but is wide and has a nice touch around the hoop. Can also hit an occasional three.
The biggest issue though would be IMO their three point shooting. They shoot about 20 threes a game and there are at least 4-5 perimeter players that look very comfortable from that range.
This will be a very tough game for us. But if we bring our A game (Lafayette), especially on the defensive end, we definitely have a shot.
We bring our C game (1st half of Navy) and it will be a long sad trip back to Worcester.
Go Cross!

This is a big game. Some positive momentum in league play is critical for this team and this program.... Especially because the competition only gets tougher as the schedule progresses. In the last 8 games of PL play, HC plays Navy (1), BU (2), Colgate (1), and Army (2).
