DeAndrade confirmed on twitter today he is not returning. This has been the case for awhile with DeAndrade. Look for a new DB coach in the near future.

Any murmurs on the new OC? Seems like Smith is the internal favorite. Gotta imagine it's a pretty good gig with Sluka leading the QB room.

Now with Chesney signed makes sense to go shopping for a OC?

I think Smith is in the odds on favorite for the OC job. I have no first hand knowledge but the offensive personnel is very deep for at least the next 2 seasons. With Sluka at the helm, we will be a run oriented offense and Smith (being the run game coordinator is a natural progression) The outstanding question will be his situational play calling abilities but from a strategic POV, it makes sense.
Also, I don't know Chris but per unanimous positive conversations with his former teammates, watching him "coach up" his players on the sidelines and development of a great O-line/run game in a pass happy CFB world, I think most of us would be supportive of him getting his shot.

I think I've mentioned on this board before my observation that Coach Smith is very, very active on the sidelines with his players. I understand that that is a coach's job but it just seems to me that this guy is never just standing there -he's always appears to be instructing someone or encouraging his charges.

Chris Smith is the " Best " ! As loyal and purple as any Crusader. We need to keep him on Mt. Saint James.

I don’t notice a lot of assistant coaches on the sidelines but Smith has always stood out. Very passionate and seems like the players really like him so let’s get him promoted.

I hope he will do a good job. Does Smith have OC experience?

I also believe Smith is odds on favorite for the job. Does this mean though we will be sticking with same offensive game plans?? Smith bleeds purple, which is all any of us could ask for. I just don't think there is going to be any change from the Wildcat offense that we ran last year. It looks efficient against poor competition, but against the programs we want to beat it doesn't work. Sluka is a great "athlete" only problem is he isn't much of a threat in the passing game. We do have ton of talent coming back, but if you don't involve them we are a one trick pony. Most importantly we were able to hold on to Chesney!!!

I think the onus here is more on Matt's development and maturity. We will run a similar offense with him at QB and there has to be some balance between "let Sluka be Sluka" and him developing some sort of passing consistency to get the ball to our many other play makers in space. Hopefully more misdirection and play action with a set of throws he can make with a high degree of success. Also, who's not to say Joe P or another QB develops into a Siderman relief type role that teams have to respect and prepare for....a more traditional spread/west coast type QB ability.
