It was year 3 for Coach Blaney when Potter and Vicens arrived. Hope that the Portal will provide a couple of players that will enhance the current talent level. Considering Covid year, next season will be pivotal. The cupboard was not bare in Blaney’s first year . Pretty bare in his second .

I think coach Blaney inherited a very talented team with Gene Doyle and Jim Schnurr being exhibits 1 & 2

Which made the 1972-1973 year so disappointing regarding results. Team synergy was lacking.

Which made the 1972-1973 year so disappointing regarding results. Team synergy was lacking. Always wanted to ask George in later years when he and Frank McArdle knew they had a disastah on their hands. As I said a couple weeks ago, the 21-22 team is quite similar to the 73-74 team; it's possible that the nucleus will produce a more-than-satisfactory result going forward; but not without a couple impact additions.

Poll stands at 33 Go vs 46 Stay as of Friday morning. It locks at midnight and we'll have our final read on what message board members think we should do.

Well, hard to develop talented players if they choose not to stay. Unless there are some "miracle" signings very quickly, it may be time to start over once again.

I'm glad I waited to vote in the poll. Much easier decision now.

Can I rescind my vote to give him another year? Can anyone now give a single reason BN should be retained?

I believe you can change your vote in either direction until the poll locks.

It seems as if the only vacancy in the PL this season is Lafayette. All the more reason to move on from Nelson and hire a new coach.
Does Kit Hughes really want to potentially be competing against Bucknell and American (maybe Lehigh) whose coaches are very clearly on the hot seat heading into next season?

Clearly Nelson's approach to recruiting will not work at HC's level. Time for him to move on.
5 players returning and one coming in.
Wonder where Luc will end up. RJJ, I am fearful (for him) is damaged goods, hope he's somewhere where he doesn't have to play for half or a whole year.

I will say, it has to be an absolutely awful feeling and situation coaches at low-major schools find themselves in, seemingly having to re-recruit their top players after each year.

And even worse if you're at a school where (1) it's difficult getting transfers through admissions and (2) you don't have a grad school.

Unless people start changing their votes, I don't think there are enough votes on the table to change the outcome.
I voted not to fire immediately because, with exactly one player with a full year of D-I experience under his belt, this was destined to be a disaster. Then went downhill when the starting point guard was lost for the season. With experience under their belts, next year had to be better, and although the W-L record has been more than disappointing, the guy had to be given a reasonable opportunity to succeed.
With 1/4 of the scholarship players walking away, next year's very critical season just got a lot more challenging

Time to go, Brett. A complete inability to retain recruits after they spend a year on campus is pretty damning.

I had voted to keep BN and give him at least one more year. Now, it looks like it's time to make the move. The transfer portal is causing this problem with transfers all over college basketball. Watching the NCAA all you hear is that a lot of players are now on their 2nd or 3rd team. Grad school is a big item and HC should look into starting a grad school program.

Watched some games the past few years. With the continued exodus from this program and continued 20plus loss seasons, 3 ADs in last 5 years, this has to be rock bottom, no question! CBN not a head coach, time to hire an alum who has a passion to bring HC back. CRW did it in 2000, I think TT is the guy. You have 8 guys left, change needs to be made by end of weekend!

Andy Sachs can coach. TT could learn much as his assistant. If RJ stays it will be like old times at the Hart.

We had the chance to have one of the following as our head coach right now:
Mark Daigneault - OKC Thunder Head Coach Kevin Willard - Maryland Head Coach Shaheen Holloway - ELITE 8 St Peter’s Head Coach
Instead we have a total bleep show of a program. Infuriating.

There is no way that Kevin Willard would come to Holy Cross.

Can I rescind my vote to give him another year? Can anyone now give a single reason BN should be retained? At this point, no. And I was in your camp to give him another year...prior to this exodus. Unfortunately, it's pretty clear that Nelson is in 'ovah his head'.
