I don’t think a student athlete could take only online courses. However American has a large number of regular masters programs as well.

Here's a new name who could end up at HC: PG Rachael Rose who was ROY in the Big South this year at South Carolina Upstate. Rose was an all-state player at Scranton Prep. She apparently is transferring because her coach just left for the job at Buffalo. In the past 48 hours, HC Women's Basketball started following her. Other than possibly Buffalo, the most logical landing place for her likely would be Bucknell, as she is very close friends with Bucknell's Cecelia Collins - who played with her for many years at Scranton Prep and for the NEPA Elite and who is also her cousin. Also her family knows Bucknell coach Trevor Woodruff well from the 15+ years he coached in the Scranton area - including four years at U. of Scranton, when his teams went 113-10. I know her Dad has followed the Bucknell program fairly closely. However it doesn't appear that Bucknell has any available scholarships at the moment. So that's how Bucknell got Holy Cross to change the annual night football game at Polar Park to a 4PM start. The proverbial "player to be named later" in another sport. Good work by the front office under new GM, er AD Kit Hughes.🙂 It's usually hard to make a trade in your own division.🙂

6'5" Soph Piath Gabriel is in the portal from UConn - she's from Manchester, NH - We need her and will certainly transfer down in strength of league

6'5" Soph Piath Gabriel is in the portal from UConn - she's from Manchester, NH - We need her and will certainly transfer down in strength of league I'd expect she will still end up in a P6 conference. One other issue is that she had some academic problems at UConn. While in HS, she had offers from a lot of strong programs, including Louisville, Tennessee, North Carolina, Ohio State, West Virginia, and Miami.

She would be a fantastic get, former New England Crusader (AAU), teammate of the departed Steph Davis, but I'm not sure she will be trading down, not getting on the court at UCONN doesn't mean she headed to the PL.

Both American and Lehigh have extensive graduate programs. Thanks, assumed they were limited. American offers ten masters programs you can complete online. You can even get a Ph.D online at American. Is an online graduate student eligible to play basketball? How about an online undergraduate degree candidate? That would put HC further behind the 8-ball as we have no online degrees I am aware of. Hopefully you can only play intercollegiate sports as a full time residential student. None of AU's MBB players who've stayed to get their Masters have done so via online courses AFAIK.

Quite a fine Institution as I confirmed when I googled American University graduate studies.

On top of the fact that she was a top recruit unlikely to want to go from UConn to the PL, she missed UConn’s Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games because she needed to attend to her schoolwork.

Sophie Haydon played in 14 games for an average of 7.6 mpg as a Frosh post player at GW. Good height and length which can always be helpful.

Not a bad thing for HC to add depth & height, which they do need. I'd like to see Allen play the 4, I think she would prosper there. I assumed her family comment to mean that one or both of her parents grew up on the east coast & she still has family here.

One reason she chose GW is because she wanted to be in an urban area. That's a hint at the competitive rise of BC, PC, Villanova, etc., vs HC in admissions volume and interest.
Worcester is a larger city than Providence, but somehow doesn't get viewed as a happening urban center in the same light.
After a year in a city, I assume HC's location on the East Coast an hour from Boston wouldn't eliminate it from her consideration.
Her taking with Maine and Colgate indicate an urban area is not now a necessity.

She'd be close to DC to attend social events there; that would be true; but I don't see her choosing LC over HC because of "Ballmer".

When you’re a 17-year-old kid from Minnesota, moving to a big city probably seems exciting and glamorous. Once you experience living in such a city, one may have a different view of it.

Colgate and Maine do not offer an urban setting. Although I'm sure there is a bus from Orono to Bangor.

Sure would be nice if someone used this thread to post an announcement that a player had actually transferred to HC.

Sure would be nice if someone used this thread to post an announcement that a player had actually transferred to HC. True, but perhaps the coach is savvy and feels she can get higher value if she waits until the portal entrants who hoped to move up to a power conference discover there are no more slots available and now HC will be in a stronger bargaining position than mid majors with filled slots who can't bid on the power conference near misses. There is little precedent for this level of off-season bargaining in college sports. Filling your open scholarship slots early with willing transfers is the easiest and least stressful option, but having open scholarship(s) when players who have misjudged the market are desperate would probably yield the most raw talent.

Big loss for Bucknell as 6'1" Jr. Carly Krsul (from Minnesota) just hit the portal - I would rather not see the better players in the league opting out - but who knows what the circumstances are

Then I don't think was with the team for the WNIT games. Probably not happy with playing time....?

Bucknell has two post players with good credentials in the incoming recruiting class. They will have to hope at least one is ready to give them a good 15 minutes a game.

It's one of those schools where when you see where it is (overlooking Malibu Beach) you say "who wouldn't want to go here?".
