$603,000 raised 2,193 donors, 146 percent of the goal.
$-wise, men's lacrosse led. Football was 4th.
Both men's and women's basketball were near the bottom, #20 and #21 of 23 sports (all track combined consists of several sports) with $ totals that are about six percent of what was given to men's lacrosse. For all the talk about hoops being HC's number one sport, the sport has consistently raised substantially less money than many other sports, antedating the current set of coaches. .

My educated guess is that most alums and other donors think that basketball, especially men’s, is already well funded directly by the school and the teams just don’t need it.
Football is the one that surprises me as the Gridiron Club was the pioneer CAF. It may be a victim of its own success with an assumption money is pouring in for the most successful team on campus over the last 3 years.
I gave no money yesterday as I already gave my CAF donations earlier - to football and women’s basketball.

Football has it's own specific campaign going on right now ... Fueling the Momentum. Currently at 288 donors and $361,422 with 41 days left to the $750,000 goal. Suspect a few potential football donors gave to that already and so did not give yesterday. www.givecampus.com/schools/CollegeoftheHolyCross/fueling-the-momentum

I gave no money yesterday as I already gave my CAF donations earlier - to football and women’s basketball. I have supported a number of sports but have never supported basketball or ice hockey because I view them as scholarship sports sufficiently funded by the college. If I support a men's sport, I will donate a similar amount to a woman's sport. I was told by CAF that when were there significant inequities between giving levels for a men's sport and a women's sport. e.g., softball and baseball, Nate Pine had to dip into the non sport-specific pot of the CAF to balance out the giving levels. Title IX.

And, as I've posted before, it was Nate Pine who created a rule, allegedly "required" by Title IX (B.S.), that if you made a donation to any sport that had both a men's and women's team, your donation would be automatically split between them whether you wanted to or not. Pretty sure that resulted in less total money donated. Believe is was Marcus Blossom who rescinded that. It helped that it wasn't a Title IX requirement. I think, Phreek, that your post above gives the background for Nate's "rule."

I think, Phreek, that your post above gives the background for Nate's "rule." It wasn't a Title IX rule, but Nate was all too aware of the Title IX consent decree involving women's softball, which centered on the level of HC support for softball compared to baseball. And you may recall what happened in women's basketball several years ago, in the championship tournament, when players complained about their poor facilities for the tournament compared to the men. abcnews.go.com/Sports/ncaa-apologizes-womens-basketball-players-weight-room-disparity/story?id=76563430

1. yes, I remember the ladies complaint 2. Though not a Title IX rule, I was informed that "we have to split your basketball donation because of Title IX." 3. That encouraged me to give 100% of my CAF donation to football as I wasn't especially happy with what was going on with the women's basketball team at the time (not necessarily a W/L thing, more that I thought BG was "mailing it in" and I didn't want to support that) 4. Women's BB has gotten their act together so I'm happy to support them - not just because they won the regular PL championship - as my decision pre-dated this season but I don't want my dime going to the current men's coaching staff. And not too wild about the revolving door for the players who leave on their own; nor to support the staff who may be "encouraging" otherwise loyal players to leave. Call me old fashioned but when a player and staff make an agreement for a scholarship, I expect both parties to live up to that agreement unless really unusual extenuating circumstances happen. Certainly not because the player was recruited by the prior coach; or the player just doesn't feel he's getting enough floor time; or the coach thinks he can recruit in a better player. End of rant.

I did not donate on Friday, despite multiple emails and even a text from Kit Hughes... I responded to that text with my reasons for not donating, and was surprised to receive a personal response from Kit. I figured he had a student intern blasting the texts on his behalf, but we ended up having a nice exchange.
