In case you're looking forward to our opener in less than 3 weeks, here's a preview of Siena from the 'dailydoseofhoops' blog:
Siena, fresh off a summer trip to Italy where it won two of three games with a roster that was built largely through the transfer portal and incoming freshmen, has displayed what head coach Carmen Maciariello referred to as “collective unity” in the offseason. Jackson Stormo leads the Saints up front while Jared Billups and Javian McCollum handle the load in the backcourt amid one of the largest classes of rookies in the league. Michael Eley has looked to be the standout performer among the freshmen.

I hope there is some plan in place to entice students/locals to get out to the opener, as Siena is likely to bring a large contingent. If I recall Coach Nelson bribed the students with free plzza last year....might have to kick it up a notch with steak tips and baby back ribs. Otherwise it's going to feel like a road game.

Might not be as much as when our "friend" was there, but they had a pretty good group there last year for a weekend game. Being the opener, I'm thinking it will be at least comparable.

The emergence of UAlbany has a respected Division I team over the past 20 years has definitely contributed to stealing some of Siena's thunder in the Capital District. The massive crowds (for a mid-major) they used to bring absolutely consisted of a lot of non-alum who are/were local fans of the team.

Siena also won a lot of games when Frantic Franny and wicked wife were there.

If Foley is consistent in the schedule above, it looks as if both scrimmages are home. NAD, you should be able to get in through your Brown connections and give us a detailed report.

Foley cut and pasted Jeff Goodman’s list of so-called secret scrimmages. Goodman shows both of the scrimmages being played in the Hart, so I am fairly sure that is accurate.

Well, when we were chatting with the coach I was careful not to tell him about my HC maintenance uniform (for these occasions), so I may make the attempt to get in......

Wish I could report back on the scrimmage results, but I had an unfortunate experience. Was at the Hart about an hour before the start, in my HC maintenance costume, complete with push broom (and my mini trampoline that I use to propel myself up to the rafters). Unfortunately, just as I was about to enter the gym (that's for Mr. Foley), I spotted 2 girls wearing brown sweatshirts looking at me intently. Next thing I knew, security was pushing me out the door. So no report. I hate Brown!

Seriously speaking, any whispers out there about how the scrimmage went?

This is out of date already as Perez left the Jaspers when the coach got fired.

Do the Siena fans still travel ? It has been a while since friend Fran patrolled The sidelines According to the the Siena board, they set up bus trips for many games. They have one coming down to Worcester.
So, hopefully there will be at least 60 or so HC fans attending!

At this VERY early date, Massey makes Siena a 5 point favorite over HC (70-65). Since I believe no decision can be better than the information on which it is based, I give this pick little credence. How the two teams are will clearly need to be decided on the court. By December we could know just how strong/weak each team may actually be this season. (BTW, at this point Massey has HC favored in only 6 games this season.)

I hadn't checked KenPom in a while and was pleased to see the site has been updated for the new season. He makes us a 1 point underdog to Siena and has us going 6-7 OOC and 7-11 in PL play. We start the season at #320 in his estimation.

Agreed. They are that. There is still room for some optimism.
Any word on the Brown scrimmage?
