The Friar great passed away at age 83. No doubt he played a few games versus our Crusades before beginning his long NBA career

The one I saw was in the 61 NIT semi when PC prevailed in OT on soph Vinny Ernst FTs. The raucous HC student section behind the PC basket shook the wires holding the basket, to no avail. Jack the Shot, George Blaney and Tim Shea, but no big man to defend Jim Hadnot. Rumor had it that when Ernst was named MVP, Egan walked off the court and did not return to PC.

While we live longer today because of diet, medicines, and great physician/specialty care, 83 might still be very young

Gone down the last three years- in part Covid related, and now a variety of recent health policy changes
But this is not a health policy discussion or a board for political opinions so let’s discuss off line if interested

The pride of Weaver High. Old timers never stopped talking about him in Hartford.

He played for them back when the Friars had the courage to play the Crusaders.
