Well it says he is an “elite shooter” and tough as well as versatile, so it must be true and just what the next head coach will need to rebuild the program.

Pardon me for not knowing, but do they have anyone 6-8 or taller coming? Not that I am aware of. HC has one senior on the team - Gates. He is being replaced with 6-6 Nugent. HC currently has 12 kids on scholarship. One less than the NCAA limit. With the current changeover for 2023-24 being one out and one in, there is room to bring in one yet unnamed player who could be 6-8 or taller. As of right now, the 6-8 + players in 2023-24 will be Rabinovich, Coulibaly, Lewis, and Wilbar

Probably just me but these rankings mean virtually nothing to me. 1. These are inherently subjective - beauty is in the eye of the beholderare a lot of D-1 2. If they are somehow accurate/objective, HC is so poor that in a small 6 state local region, we couldn't get anyone in the top 10, much less top 5? How is UConn and BC doing in these rankings? Tells us something about our basketball program. 3. Or, while not very likely, our coaching staff are geniuses and know #18 is better than many in the 17 notches above him. All that said, I hope he does well and is a factor in improving our dreadful results on the court. I was just looking at NERR's New England Class of 2023 rankings and most of the top 30 have made a commitment. The top ten are all going to high-major programs. Nos. 21 and 22 are UMass recruits and 4 from 25-30 are going to Harvard, Brown, Bucknell and Fairfield. I don't put much stock in the rankings other than saying it appears there are a lot of D-1 kids playing in the NEPSAC.

Hope I get to apologize for that snide remark.

When healthy, Louth had shown some promise.

All that said, I hope he does well and is a factor in improving our dreadful results on the court. These rankings mean more than just about any other recruiting rankings out there. They are compiled by a reputable source and people who are able to watch every ranked player. Perhaps you’re confusing this with ranking guys who have committed to New England colleges? Or you’re at least forgetting that New England is home to the best prep school league in the country that draws talent from across the US and routinely sends double-digit kids to high-major programs each year? What should mean the most in looking at these rankings is the schools where other guys have committed. newenglandrecruitingreport.com/rankings/new-england-class-of-2023Welcome, Joe! A great signing filling a major need with shooting ability + size. Go Cross Go!!

I will say that Joe Nugent looks like Austin Butler (his build, anyway) and hopefully will play as well.

Watching him plan in person right now. He’s thick and strong. Can go hard to right and left. Nice mid range game to go along with 3. I wouldn’t call him a knock down 3 guy.
I’d say he’s closer to 6’4/6’5 than 6’6. I might be splitting hairs but def not 6’6. In other words I see him as a big guard rather than a small forward but he will rebound for a guard.

Will be tough on the post against smaller guards. On our team he'd likely be a SF, he's going to play with Batchelder. We started out playing basically playing 4 guards and an undersized PF.

Joe Nugent having his own active thread reminds me of past years when the next year's arrivals like Lowder and Wade and Rabs and Martindale got much comment and discussion. I hope Joe is a four year keeper at HC with good health throughout.

Impressed that the young man made, and has apparently so far kept, a commitment. He must love HC. Hopefully he is rewarded with a great four years that are the revival of HC hoops.

I met the parents the night of the game. They seem excited with Joe going to HC. He did sign the NLI which at least makes it binding.
He’s a good add.

Nugent is no doubt tracking the HC season closely and sees how many minutes young Batchelder has received. With Gates' departure and an already very short bench, have to figure Nugent is excited at the prospects of staying close to home and receiving 20+ minutes of PT from the get-go.

The guys who play at HC all get 34+.
