The co-owner of the new Jesuit residence is developing these residential buildings, -- below home plate and first base -- adjacent to Polar Park. Construction has started on the first one, apparently called Plumb House, which is nearer the ballfield than the red- and yellow -sided ones.

My reading comprehension is on the fritz, apparently. Are you saying that someone besides Holy Cross will partially own the new Jesuit digs? What is it, a mortgage company? Oh, and do tell . . . . what will the name be of the new Jesuit residence? PM me if you're not allowed to publicly announce it.

I just tried to find out how many Jesuits at HC are in the classroom but couldn’t find it. I wonder if that is by design. I know they could add-on to the planned new Jesuit residence but I wonder if the college suspects there is no need to build a residence with more than ten bedrooms. At what point do most if not all of the 27 or so Jesuit colleges and universities cease to have a Jesuit presence of any substance, on campus? There are currently eleven Jesuits listed as being a member of the Holy Cross community. Of the eleven, four are professors. The oldest is Father Earle Markey, The youngest was class of '06 at HC. As some do not provide chronological dates for their Jesuit milestones, it is difficult to compute an average age. i would guess early 70s. All but O'Brien '06 joined the Jesuits well before 2000.

The abutting property owner to the west sold this particular land to Madison-Kendig, for a rather nice sum, given it is undevelopable as the site for a single family residence. ^^^ South elevation facing Kendig St. ^^^ East elevation. Principal entrance, handicapped entrance. This abuts the Hart parking lot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 10 Jesuit bedrooms are just that. There is an en-suite bathroom, but no separate study. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ciampi converted to student housing is 75+ beds. With the two new residence halls (144 beds) that is enough swing space for taking an Easy St dorm off-line for a year, but not enough for Brooks. Another possibility is that Madison Kendig will build the next student residence (halls), and this is part of the package. This rendering shows no solar panels on the roof. Are they still banned at HC?

The above rendering is stated as the southern elevation where you'd presumably put any solar panels. We seem to be bigger on trees than solar panels. Those trees would do a nice job of blocking the sun on any installed solar panels. Less trees, more panels?

Our well compensated architects should be able to make solar blend in attractively while also adding the aesthetic of shorter trees, like the front court of the D-3 segment of our MBB schedule.🙂

By not using the lots at 136 and 144 Kendig for the new Jesuit residence, Holy Cross has reserved about 100,000 sq ft of HC owned property on Kendig and Avon streets for some other future use. This would increase to 118,000 sq ft if HC were to secure an easement on Avon from the natural gas pipeline company. (About 2.7 acres.) ^^^The house on Avon St with the red car in the driveway is privately owned. The woods beyond this house and on the right side of Avon St. belongs to HC. ^^^Holy Cross' woods on Avon on the right ^^^The owners of the house on Kendig near center of the image sold the three lots to Madison-Kendig. Holy Cross-owned houses at the top of the street on the right. Jesuit residence going where the trees are. ---------------- My guess is that this land is being reserved for either athletics or Hart Center parking. Maybe, move the tennis courts here?

You're making a comeback, Phreek! You ever see a rocket-powered tortoise? This one is for the fans of a new rink. One can mentally overlay the dimensions of a larger Hart rink on that land on Avon St. On the south side of City View, HC's property begins under the 'ie' in City View and continues to the right up to the very last house on the right. So a significantly larger land parcel than on the north side, where HC does not own the house to the immediate left of Ciampi.

Can’t Holy Cross invoke eminent domain? You know, it answers to a “higher authority” than the city or state.😉😂

As a public service to the readers of Crossports, I listened to the public hearing, and the numerous public comments.
1.) The College's submission of the moment is not the first time for this project. Quite likely, the project was approved several years ago, but for across the street. HC made no mention of this.
2.) Much neighbor angst about construction workers, parking on the street, and not in designated lots. Too many heavy trucks going up and down College St. (This relates to the construction that is underway, not to the proposed residence.)
3.) The College did a very poor job of community outreach.
4.) The College ought to map how many students are living off-campus in this neighborhood. Some of the neighbor complaints likely relate to student behavior at off-campus residences. One individual said she owns several properties on College St. I'll make a bet one of them is rented to students. 5.) Caro St., thankfully, has calmed down!

I checked the College's Office of Government and Community Relations website. Nothing posted since March 2020. (This was Ed Augustus' old office.) Left with the onset of COVID, and have never returned? --------------
The local ward councilor, George Russell, repeatedly exclaimed in amazement: "8,000 square feet and 10 Jesuits!!!"

Does George Russell think he's paying for the building? What's the living arrangements to him? Maybe Ed Augustus protected Holy Cross subtlety while he was City Manager. I don't recall these digs at HC as much when he was in power. He held much sway over City Councilors because it's a Strong Manager/Weak Council Plan E form of government and because he was so well regarded. Maybe Ed's new position at Dean College is related to the HC-Dean MBB game that's posted on Crossports but not officially anywhere else. Stranger things have happened.

Possibly, the size is in anticipation of the repurposing of the facility?
