The Crusaders have the talent, experience, mind-set, and coaching to pound Colgate and I predict they will do so.

Thanks for sharing Breezy. I do like Chesney's analysis in the article. I can see this being a close game for a short period of time. Two thoughts. 1.) Really happy to see the photo selected for the article has a jam packed Fitton Field in the background. 2.) BC, UMess, UConn, and Harvard have their own tab on the NEFJ site, time for a Holy Cross tab!

Guys, I know we have to respect every opponent - but can I repeat here that the 'gate did not score an offensive TD in two of their games so far They are averaging 221 yards of offense and 11 first downs per game On top of that they have had some injuries to key players - Their qb Brescia might get beat up by our D if their game plan is to have him as the primary runner - they need him for the rest of the season

2.) BC, UMess, UConn, and Harvard have their own tab on the NEFJ site, time for a Holy Cross tab! Agreed…and it should be the FIRST one! We have the BEST college football program in New England!

Believe it or not, there was a time when the Cornell-Penn game would fill Franklin Field. How the times have changed.

They make it easy to leave a comment, which I just did, asking them to have a team tab for Holy Cross!

Fordham has their Boogie back. We beat Boola Boola last week. The natural grass at Fitton and any bit of weather will take some woogie out of the Ram's Boogie.

The Crusaders have the talent, experience, mind-set, and coaching to pound Colgate and I predict they will do so. And conditioning. I am very impressed with our conditioning.

I watched the Harvard-Merrimack game. Merrimack controlled most of the game and then Harvard came roaring back at the end. It could be that Harvard is also well conditioned or it could be their significant depth advantage over an NEC team with less than a full FCS allotment of scholarships contributed or it could be a better team finally got untracked in their season opener.
In any case, conditioning may not be a significant factor against the Crimson during our upcoming State Championship game.

I think we have a depth that we haven’t had in many, many years so while conditioning is a factor, having back-ups to back-ups to starters is invaluable.
Chris Smith shuttles in linemen to keep them fresh from start to finish. When have we ever done that? The receiving corps has multiple players who would have started on past teams.
Our RBs are Oliver, Fuller, Purdy and now Slade without skipping a beat.
Our defense has similar depth.
It will be a special season.

Random thought: looking forward to seeing Sammy Slade score his first HC TD late in the third quarter

Penn’s a below average Ivy team this year. Once they shook the rust off after a very long layoff they had no problem with their lesser opponent (outscoring Colgate 22-0 in the second half).
We’re much stronger than Penn, are coming off of three good wins so there is no rust issue, and should have no problem outscoring them by at least three or four touchdowns.
This is one of several PL matchups we’ll see this year that when eyeballing the opposition’s roster by position/personnel there are about zero guys we’d rather have.

Colgate is a very limited team Offensively with a pretty good defense. I think they will try and possess the ball with their running QB and limit HC's possessions. HC needs to be patient offensively in the event Colgate does have success with their ball control strategy.
HC 31-10

Some FCS upsets predicted this week in The Analyst--we are not one of them! Patriot: No. 13 Holy Cross (3-0, 0-0) at Colgate (1-2, 0-0) Kickoff: 1 p.m. (ESPN+) Notable: Holy Cross defeated Colgate 42-10 last season and has won its last 11 games against PL opponents by 10+ points (the PL doesn’t include the league’s spring 2021 championship game as part of the Crusaders’ 10-game league winning streak). QB Matthew Sluka’s go-to receiver Jalen Coker is averaging 27.5 yards per catch on 11 receptions (four TDs). While Colgate’s offense has been sluggish (221 yards per game), the Raiders are +5 in turnover margin. The Pick: Holy Cross theanalyst.com/na/2022/09/fcs-football-preview-and-predictions-week-4-games-of-the-week/

Sounds glorious. I’m still not going.😊
Crusaders almost always underperform when I travel to Hamilton which is almost never the case elsewhere. Karma doesn’t work for the Crusader/Raider/Hamilton/sader1970 combo. And so, I’m doing my part for the team by not attending live.
Superstitious? No more than any other sports aficionado.😂
