Last week it was Scott Frost after Nebraska's loss to Georgia Southern and today Herm Edwards has been fired by Arizona St. after their embarrassing loss to Eastern Michigan last night.

FBS/FCS matchups are becoming an early season storyline of its own. For two years now, FCS teams seem to be creating a number of coaching openings at FBS schools.

Just so there is no confusion, Eastern Michigan is an FBS team and member of the Mid-American Conference (“MAC”). According to the Detroit Free Press, EMU’s win over ASU was the first ever win by a MAC team over a Pac-12 team.

Herm goes 54-74 in the NFL. Naturally ASU scooped him up.

This will start at the College Football level pretty much now. Rob Ambrose at Towson just let go - and they went 6-5.
Personally I think you'll see turnover at 3 PL schools in a couple of weeks - Georgetown, Lehigh and Bucknell. Not sure of anymore in the CAA - maybe Stony Brook - coach been there for a while, but they've been on the decline the last 4 years and this year was bad. Possibly Albany although they had 9 wins in 2019.

Given what Chesney has built at HC, have to think that schools like CCSU could be coming after HC assistants. I'd like to think Scott James or Chris Smith wouldn't be interested in a job like this...

Former Holy Cross safeties coach Michael Toerper has Ithaca in the D-3 Quarterfinals where they are playing North Central. Toerper is in his first season with the Bombers.

Tough atmosphere (given the academic focus of the student body and weekend emptying of the campus) for football to succeed there at this point.

Let's just enjoy our (probable) last home game with Ches. I can't envision scenario that he returns to the Hill.

Yah I just don’t think it’s that easy. I’ll engage in this for a second.
If you laid out scenarios I could opine one way or the other but often times FBS jobs are regionally hired because coaches in that area know the High Schools. Only schools in FBS around are Army, BC, UConn and UMASS. By the looks of things those coaches aren’t leaving.
I’ve heard BC not getting off Hafley. They don’t want more dead money. He’s crazy to leave for FCS and the desirable guys aren’t leaving - Nova, W&M, Richmond.
All conjecture but to say that just doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. But I guess time will tell. Beat UNH.

Here's a scenario: Chesney just signed a five year extension, he loves HC, he receives tremendous institutional support, and he and his family are deeply connected to the local community.

With Dobbs and Sluka back next year plus a fun schedule plus lack of openings that make a ton of sense plus the extension last year, I’m planning on Chesney being back next year.

Is it unreasonable to think that with last year's extension the school required a hard commitment of at least two years? Maybe three?

But at the same time if he left after this year nobody could claim he ran out leaving us high and dry and with a bare cupboard. We’d be in position player-wise to win the PL (again).

One game at a time
The biggest game this team has ever played is tomorrow. Let them dig deep and make one big play at a time.
