This is a thread literally about New York sports. There are dozens/hundreds others on HC sports, as well there should be. So this conversation is on brand-- most threads actually aren't.
Want to talk HC Football? How are we going to win in the FCS playoffs if our QB attempts 16 passes, and completes single digits? Winning is winning is winning, but this is a throw-the-ball sport.

Geez, you guys are still talking about baseball. BASEBALL?! It's practically November. This is football season and Holy Cross, the team we ALL root for is still in the thick of things. And your favorite baseball teams are all out of it. Haven't you heard: "Wait 'til next year?" Amen. Nine pages of NY sports talk that has nothing to do with HC. The Mets and Yankees are sunning themselves in Aruba but the baseball talk continues here. Really weird that a bunch of sports fans would talk about sports even after the season in question ends. If you’re not interested in NY sports talk or can’t stand the thought of talking about baseball outside of baseball season, just don’t open the NY sports thread in “General Sports Discussion” which is designed to be a forum to discuss sports beyond HC.

While we could debate whether or not baseball season should extend into early November, it actually is still baseball season and there are at least four more games to be played

I am pretty sure I read about professional baseball almost every day of the year.

Jacob Grandison is definitely a Yankee fan.
Just needed to be said.

I am pretty sure I read about professional baseball almost every day of the year. In NY media market that's definitely true. In other places, people take a break and invest the mind share in following other sports until at least pitchers and catchers.

I understand your position. Here's mine. I am a born and raised New Yorker, not like many here opining on this subject. I'm also of a certain age when various sports had pretty clearly defined seasons (so, sue me for being old). As for ignoring the topic, I will defer to hchoops and others who will be the first to tell you that threads often wander far from the alleged topic. Maybe, just maybe that "New York sports" wandered into something other than baseball. NY sports also covers football, basketball, hockey. If I don't go to this thread, I might miss that. And, for your satisfaction, I will stipulate that I detest MLB since the players' strike eons ago. When I grew up, I was a baseball junkie and Little League All-Star shortstop. I go back to the Brooklyn Dodgers; then by default a Yankee fan until the "real" Yankees retired (Mantle, Ford, Berra, Richardson, Moose, etc.); then became a Mets fan with Casey Stengel, Willie Mays, etc. This was pre-steroid days (or at least we didn't know about it; just drunks). Maybe I should take this thread down the reason I was cut from my high school team because the coach/teacher hated my older brother? I mean, that is related to NY sports. Nope, I'll spare you all. Finally, this is indeed an opinion board. I expressed my opinion.

Bad weekend for the local (meaning NY) elevens. I'd be very worried about the Jets' qb situation based on Wilson's performance on Sunday.
