The Yankees showed too little fight too late. They were ultimately doomed in this most-recent game by trying to shoehorn a Gold Glove third baseman into the SS position, where had made quite a few errors before. All of this to keep their $25M anchor in Donaldson in the lineup to drive in zero runs, hit zero home runs. Donaldson last hit a home run on September 17, by the way.

For inspiration, the Yankees provided to all staff and team members video lowlights of its historic collapse to their hated rival. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures but eventually the inevitable conclusion was realized.

Nothing to do with the title of the thread. . . but this is Crossports and most threads need to go off the rails
The National League has won 3 world series in a row. This was not a single strong team dominating (like the Giants with their 3 wins in 5 years). Three different teams have made up this mini-streak. IF the Phillies beat the Astros to make it 4 different NL teams in 4 years, we might start to wonder if the upper echelon of the NL is better than the upper echelon of the AL

Big series for Astros, third time in a row they've gone in as big favorites if lose again will be facing the dreaded choker label.

One of the few positives from last night is that Oswald Peraza looks the part of the Yankees shortstop for the next 10 years. Why they had been playing IKF over him until yesterday, I have no idea. Of course, their other top prospect is also a shortstop. By Game 4, Ralph Kiner Falefa was back in there. Peraza didn't exactly pass the audition w/flying colors. He did great in the field in his one game in two weeks. It’s not his fault the Yankees are infatuated with IKF despite poor defense and limited production at the plate. I suspect IKF will either be traded or moved to third next year if Donaldson is traded. Not an ideal third baseman given his lack of pop but he’s definitely not a major league shortstop. www.mlb.com/news/oswald-peraza-shines-in-game-2-2022-alcs

Will Donaldson have any suitors ? Not really. You’d have to give him away and eat some money. He’s under contract for $21M next year with a $6M buyout of a $16M deal in 2024. He’s very good defensively but the offense was terrible this year. Maybe a non-NY team will think he can remember how to hit in a different market.

Meanwhile, hope springs eternal for the NY football franchises! Only downer is the Jets losing their promising runner for the season.

A big loss, but he will be back some day. "Stuff" happens.

Great trade that Robinson was easily available. Sucks to lose a young stud, but RB production can still be had at a high percentage made up by this acquisition.

Geez, man. Listened on my commute today. Hope I can snap out of my depression before the big game on Saturday. The Harper/Machado combo making roughly the same money as Chapman, Donaldson and Hicks was tough to hear. Big decisions coming up for the Yankees this offseason. Could be a total tear down if they let Judge go and Rizzo leaves.

Could be a total tear down if they let Judge go and Rizzo leaves. Appreciate you listening, and sorry for the doom and gloom haha. I try to keep it positive, but a ton of ugly in the series. If they won 120 games and that happened, you could call it a shock, or a fluke, but the Yankee Clipper saw this iceberg for two months in clear skies and calm seas, steamed towards it at 20 knots, smashed up the bow, and then are trying to wring their hands and ask "What happened?" as the whole thing sank to the bottom of the 2022 season.

Might be time for a new face.

When have the Yankees EVER had a total tear down ? Only time in my time following the club that they've truly been "rebuilding" was 2016-2017.

I guess you were not a fan of Yankees when CBS owned them (briefly). Mention some of those players and the response was typically..."Who?"

Geez, you guys are still talking about baseball. BASEBALL?! It's practically November. This is football season and Holy Cross, the team we ALL root for is still in the thick of things. And your favorite baseball teams are all out of it. Haven't you heard: "Wait 'til next year?"

The Mets and Yankees are sunning themselves in Aruba but the baseball talk continues here.

Brian Cashman has been GM for, what, 25 years? Might be time for a new face. 25 is about right. World Series championship in his first 3 years. 5 pennants in his first 6 years. 1 pennant (and World Series) in his next 19 In all fairness, 18 teams haven't won a World Series in those 19 years and 14 teams haven't won a pennant. However, doing a little better than most usually doesn't cut it in the Bronx
