The writing in this piece was crisp and clear.. The use of descriptive language was extraordinary. It certainly gave the reader a clear picture as well as a feel for the action. The piece is a work of art.My compliments to the authors for a job well done. Do we have any former Crusader sports writers who noticed the same thing?

Thanks, efg No mention of Fordham and deMorat’s latest gaudy passing numbers, and their defense’s continuing to give up lafty point totals

Do we have any former Crusader sports writers who noticed the same thing? I did. It was very good! Was it "artfully" good? Perhaps. BTW If you have not taken the time to look at the ESPN video if the Georgetown/Fordham game you should. Georgetown was better than I would have thought. Their first three TDs were things of beauty. They started with a sack of DeMorat but that was it for their defensive pressure. Fordham's defense was not good, or, in some cases, even average. If HC needs points vs Fordham, they should be there for the taking.

Imho Fordham is not even average on defense -for an FCS level team
If we avoid making mental errors we will put 45 plus on the board.
It might take 32 points to win

"work of art," "things of beauty" the prose is starting to soar with each victory. This is a special season. Go Cross!

I thought with a very few exceptions to be an outstanding and mostly unbiased reporting. Interestingly (for me, anyway), none of the photos was from yesterday's game - some from their Brown game and some from last year's game against us. They couldn't get any of their own from yesterday? The tip off was both the colors of our uniforms and the sunny/shadows on the field. The only lights one would see on the players' helmets was from the stadium lights that were on from the get-go.
This is the quality and length of reporting we used to see in newspapers and The Crusader (sigh).

Another well done highlights tape Thanks for posting, Lou
It is a shame that deMorat automatically gets the OPoW every week. Coker or Sluka are more worthy considering the respective opponents. But that does not matter to the number counters at PL headquarters.. Greenwood will also probably get the DPoW with all his tackles. Not important, but annoying.

Speaking for myself, these videos have been outstanding. The video team at Holy Cross are led by newby to Holy Cross via UMass, Scott Wiktorowski, who I've met on a couple of occasions. His team seem to be everywhere capturing this special season. Kudos, Scott & Company!

Watching yesterday, it appeared that the last FG barely reached. From the angle in these highlights, I see it cleared the crossbar with plenty of distance to spare

If we avoid making mental errors we will put 45 plus on the board. It might take 32 points to win Fordham's defense has been abysmal so far this season. Opponent quarterbacks in composite are completing 63% of their passes and are gaining 9.6 yards per pass attempt. Opponent QB's have a composite QB rating of 164.13. For perspective the highest single season QB rating for a Crusader was Jeff Wiley's 163 in 1987. Dom Randolph's career rating was 143.1. The Fordham pass defense makes every passer look like an all-conference QB. Fordham has been weak against the run as well with opponents averaging 5.5 yards per carry. We certainly shouldn't take the Rams lightly, but objective analysis would suggest that we should put a plethora of points on the scoreboard,

I believe the Buffalo game had similarly lengthy time outs. Think that game was 3:52 or close. I think that's perhaps a clue. Each conference has a media rights package with ESPN. That package provides for x number of slots for advertising during a game. Some of these slots ESPN reserves for itself for national advertising, and receives revenue for such. Other slots are reserved for the conference, and/or school, and revenue goes to the conference / school. The conference / school slots may vary by game. As the ESPN+ broadcasts are streaming, not over-the-air broadcast, no one streaming broadcast can interfere with another from a time standpoint. In looking at the broadcast times from a few of the games on ESPN+ yesterday, HC's, at 3:40, was the longest. However, it should be noted that were several replays that took an extraordinary amount of time, ---and a concession by the referee that there would be no replay of a contested play because replay was not operating. So perhaps, there were problems with replay over the entire game. The broadcast time is the length of the broadcast, not the length of the game. Miami U - Buffalo broadcast time was 3;32. UMass E. Michigan was 3:25. Stephen F. Auston - Sam Houston was 3:25. Sac State - Cal Poly was 3;19. Princeton-Columbia 3:10. Lafayette-Bucknell 3:12. From Sept 24, Yale @ Cornell was 2:56. JMU v. App State was 3:21 Montana State @ E. Washington, 3:34. Tarleton @ N. Alabama, 3:20. HC@ Colgate, 3:11.

Looking at Fordham's offense, we might just need that "plethora."

I believe the running combination of Oliver, who looked great yesterday when blocking and running, Fuller, and Sluka will punish Fordham-but we need to deal with Bucknell first

Watching yesterday, it appeared that the last FG barely reached. From the angle in these highlights, I see it cleared the crossbar with plenty of distance to spare But it definitely looked like it was heading for the left upright (right in the video) and some wind or act of God pushed in back inside. Looked like my drives off the tee, knuckling right!

herosports.com/fcs-top-25-sam-herder-ballot-10-3-2022-bzbz/good photo if you open link FCS Top 25: Sam Herder’s Ballot For The Week Of 10-3-2022 Sam Herder by Sam Herder October 2, 2022 Holy Cross beats Harvard 2022 Mark Seliger Photography/Holy Cross Athletics I am grateful to again have a vote in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 media poll for the 2022 season. I’ll publish my ballot every week and provide some reasoning for my order. Notes at the bottom. FCS Top 25 25. Eastern Kentucky 24. Fordham 23. Austin Peay 22. UT Martin 21. Missouri State 20. William & Mary 19. Richmond 18. North Dakota 17. Southern Illinois 16. Incarnate Word 15. Southeastern Louisiana University 14. Samford 13. SEMO 12. Mercer 11. Elon 10. Chattanooga 9. Jackson State 8. Holy Cross 7. Weber State 6. Delaware 5. Sacramento State 4. Montana State 3. Montana 2. South Dakota State 1. North Dakota State I reevaluate my order every week, which can result in big jumps and falls. I don’t like to slot teams based on last week’s order since every week of more games we get a clearer picture. So Team A can jump Team B even if both teams had similar wins. New to my Top 25 ballot this week is North Dakota after beating Missouri State. Dropping is Furman after its loss to Samford. My Top 10 mostly stayed the same besides moving Holy Cross up and moving Mo State down. I continue to be impressed with Holy Cross on both sides of the ball, a team that is 5-0 with an FBS win over Buffalo. A lot of my week-to-week adjustments happened between teams 11-23, so let’s break down how I ordered them like I did… No. 11 Elon is 4-1 overall and 4-0 against the FCS, including back-to-back ranked wins against W&M and Richmond. Nos. 12-14 Mercer, SEMO, and Samford are also 4-1 overall and 4-0 vs. the FCS. I really like how Mercer is playing. SEMO has a head-to-head win against SIU, so it should be ranked ahead of the Salukis, and it also owns a win against UCA, who just beat ranked Austin Peay. Samford beat then-ranked Kennesaw to open the season and also beat Furman this last weekend, who I had ranked. No. 15 Southeastern is 3-2 overall and 3-0 vs. the FCS. It has a head-to-head on and should be ranked ahead of UIW. So UIW is No. 16. UIW is 4-1 overall with an FBS win and a head-to-head win against SIU. So Southern Illinois is No. 17 at 3-2 overall with an FBS win and a head-to-head on UND. So North Dakota is No. 18 at 3-2 overall and 3-1 vs. the FCS featuring a ranked win this last weekend against No. 7 Missouri State. No. 19 Richmond is 3-2 overall and 3-1 with a close loss to Elon. No. 20 William & Mary is 4-1 overall with an FBS win and a close loss to Elon. W&M has the better resume but I like Richmond’s play a little better so far. No. 21 Missouri State and No. 22 UT Martin saw significant drops in my ballot. Which may seem weird because I had Mo State No. 8 last week and UT Martin No. 13, and UT Martin won by 17 points against Tennessee Tech. But again, I reevaluate and reorder my Top 25 every week. Mo State dropped because it is currently on a three-game losing streak and the team’s energy was a concern in the second-half beatdown by UND. But … the Bears do have a head-to-head win on UT Martin, who is 3-2 overall and 3-1 vs. the FCS. The three wins are against not great quality opponents WIU, Lindenwood, and Tennesee Tech. I want to keep UT Martin behind Mo State for now, and I really like SEMO out of the OVC now. UT Martin still looks like a playoff team, though. Oddly, SEMO and UT Martin do not play each other in the OVC schedule this year. No. 23 Austin Peay lost decidedly to UCA this week but is 4-1 vs. the FCS with a win against No. 25 EKU. No. 24 Fordham is 4-1 overall with a close loss to FBS Ohio.
