Just saw an HC email celebrating the 7-0 start and Haskins punt block TD (burying the lead?) All tailgating spots are sold for Fordham next week. They are running a shuttle from the Packachoag School in Auburn. Thought Walmart might be closer! This is the first time I remember something like this. Going to arrive early and stake out a spot near Hogan.
They should advertise on the Worcester and Boston tv stations (without mentioning today's performance)

I suppose seeing the 10k attendance for ranked Princeton vs Harvard perhaps proves your point. But nothing can beat college ball on a crisp 58 degree, sunny day from the natural grass of Fitton field.

Again, give Laffy credit....but we slept walked through this game.....it happens But it should not happen to a strong team against an inferior opponent, especially with a playoff bid and/or seeding on the line. It is a short season, 11 scheduled games, unlike baseball or hoops. It should not be hard to be mentally prepared for 11 games, which if you succeed, gives you more as a reward.

Agree, but Lafayette has a much better defense than a lot of people have given them credit for (at least prior to today) Their D was ranked just a little lower than HC in total D and is the number 1 D in the PL. They out prepared us, out schemed us, had better play calls, and now I hope we are already prepping for Fordham on the bus back.

Why they play the games....there's always always a game or two, even in a short football season, where things go haywire....HC did a great job today securing a 7th win against no losses this year

The stats in the Bama-Miss State game do not reflect how close that game was. If you look at our stats vs. Laffy you would think we lost 30-7.

Re: Matt Sluka— check out his passing from the previous 6 games. He is a very good passer who had an off day today. I would be happy to clone him to quarterback the Crusaders for the next 25 years.

Probably underestimated Lafayette but they had 2nd best defense in league but 2 QBs hurt so a true freshman was starting last few games. Today a starter QB was back and they were motivated for homecoming. I thought we were definitely over confident. Certainly a wake up call for Fordham who were off this week.

Sluka can't be trusted. Except in the clutch. He specializes in game winning touchdown passes. Not bad for the team's leading rusher. What do you mean by your first comment? IMHO the only time "trust" is really needed is in the clutch and that is where he is sure money. I was referring to all the hand wringing about Sluka having spotty performance, except when it counted. I trust him implicitly with the ball in his hand. He is similar to Tom Brady in that the game must slow down for him in the highest pressure moments. That last touchdown bullet in the red zone was very Brady-esque. Sluka may have the same calming effect on receivers in the clutch as Coker against SHU and Buffalo and Shorter against LC did not drop the ball on the game winning plays even though none of the throws were easy to catch. A long bomb along the sidelines, a Hail Mary two yards before the end zone and a searing dart today.

I compared this to the HC-Fordham game in 1991, our 19th straight win and 10th that season. We were mediocre in the first half and awful in the second half. Hung on to win 24-19 after being up 24-12 at the half. Had the same feeling after that one that I had after this one.

Instead of digesting the game on Crossports from my recliner, I'd be enjoying more than a few pints and some craic at a local spot in Limerick!

These Lafayette announcers are chodes.... Lmao 🤣 They were worse than the Colgate guys. What did you expect from a Lafayette TV crew? I’m sure Kevin Shea and our announcing crew will be bias on our behalf. I look past the announcers and just watch the game, I didn’t like them cutting away from the game to speak with “mentors” teachers who basically hand out those nice grades.😂

Lafayette is the school that HC really needs to watch. Unlike Fordham who will expect the GPA to stay above board, I see Lafayette doing whatever it takes to win the league. Especially now with this new coach who like Chesney has been very successful in D2. That defense is filled with athletes. Matt Sluka who I love was not running away from them.

Re: Derek’s missed “chip shot,” the snap was low and to the side of Patrick the holder and that was the cause of the missed FG. And let’s not paint the whole Crusader team as having a bad day. Special teams did pretty well and could be argued Devin’s blocked punt for 6 points was the difference. Believe we generally had better field position. So glad we don’t have the Weber State long-snapper!!
