With Malik Hamm blocking kicks for Laffy, nycrusader might get his 1 point safety prediction! While none of the "quality" loses for Lafayette match the level of our team (I thinknwe handle Penn easily and Princeton might be a little fight but we win by 10 in the end), Lafayette has a tougher schedule than Fordham.

This weeks thoughts….
Lafayette is a weak team. You’ll see that they look the part, but certainly do not play the part. Big up front on both sides of the ball, but not very physical. We should be able to run the ball consistently and get after the quarterback on defense. We all know how good Malik hamm could be at times but I like our match up when he lines up on Newman. Offensively, they don’t have much. For a head coach who is known for his offense, they are very underwhelming. This one should be over pretty quick.
Go Saders!!!

Pards Scoring Defense is 19th in FCS football. This should be a good test for HC's "O."

Does anyone know why tomorrow’s game is at 3:30 ? Could Lafayette not decide whether it wanted a day or night game ? I presume they have lights,

One of my juniors is going down tomorrow for the game. I believe they have alumni sports games in the morning as well as a 1pm soccer game. Maybe they wanted to spread everything out with the football game as the last event of the afternoon.
I hope we do not have a slow start off the bye and our PA boys have big games on the D line. I feel like this is a chance to our defense to get some turnovers and score. I can see a pick 6 and a fumble return from either Jake or Dan. With the amount of times Lafayette might have to punt, I wouldn't be surprised if Haskins gets a block as well. I feel like we can wear down the Lafayette front 4 pretty easily despite their size, especially if they are on the field a lot. I think they will be opportunistic looking for pressure/fumbles, but we can exploit them through the air and spread them out. Their pass defense is much weaker than their run D and statistically weaker than Bucknell (!) but I imagine their pressure and run D against lousy opponents is what creates impressive scoring D stats. Pards are allowing 224 through the skies, while Bucknell (even after our game) allows 190 per game. We eclipsed the 190 mark by 7 yards, but would have more if we needed it. Grounded and pounded the rest of the game.

The ‘Pards have always started some of their home games at 3:30 - really nothing new here - if you’re a PL junkie you can sit thru Lehigh / Bucknell at noon in Bethlehem and hop over to Easton for our tilt

Nice video preview of HC game from Lafayette site: I love all that we have done with our video productions the past few years, hype videos, etc, but I do wish we had more previews such as these (whether by HC or by Spectrum). Great praise of Ches and building the program.

The HC game notes with the 2-deep again shows Jacob Dobbs as not listed. It would appear that the Crusaders will be playing the rest of the season without his services. That's a big loss. Perhaps not so much against most PL teams but certainly against high-powered Fordham offense and any post-season playoff opponents.

OK, here's a shocker, for me, anyway. According to the game notes, Lafayette leads the series 18-17, so a win tomorrow simply ties the series. Really?! Lehigh maybe. Colgate, certainly. Lafayette?! Hope it's a typo.

I did not realize spectrum produced online videos in addition to their locally broadcast news/sports segments. Thank you! Sader1970, I remember in the early to mid 2000's, Lafayette had some good squads. Won 3 consecutive PL titles from ( I think) 04-06. I want to say mid-90's they also had a winning streak against us with some mediocre teams (while Lehigh was strong). I remember the homecoming let-down vs. the Pards a few years ago as well. I am hoping we have no more let downs under Ches.

I've always thought the Lafayette broadcasts (both football and hoops) have been really solid. Definitely above average for the PL / mid-major / FCS level. Just not looking forward to hearing Gary Laubach say as a play is developing, "And the Holy Cross defensive back is draped all over him, but no call!" He might do this in basketball more than football.

Lafayette, Colgate, and Bucknell (hard to believe) are the three PL teams that have defeated a Chesney-coached HC team. Each has a single win.
