Good point about the HC"D." May I add. FU's "D" may be beginning to jell. Heard this somewhere. I have no personal knowledge. I suspect HC will have to play its best game of the year to defeat FU.

I suspect HC will have to play its best game of the year to defeat FU. they changed corners and that helped. I am not sure whether any pressure vs SBU was a result of the line improving or SBU just being flat out bad. I am not too worried right now about the pressure Sluka felt today unless they bring edge pressure from the backers as they don't have a particularly outstanding line. I do think they are improving but they have not been tested and do not have anywhere near what Lafayette has.

329 yards for Lafayette is only a hair above our 305 ypg defensive number heading into the week. I think this was a perfect storm of Lafayette having defensive playmakers and the #1 D in the PL and our guys and coaches underestimating and under executing all afternoon. Time to plan for the Rams and get the big W. I firmly believe Lafayette beats Fordham and finishes 2nd in the PL.

We had absolutely zero business winning this game. The stat lines are astounding. Looking at the numbers, you’d think we lost 24-7 or worse. Add in Ng missing a chip shot, and I think the team should have gone directly from the field to the buses and fled the scene before the local constabulary got wind of the larceny that had just played out. While credit certainly goes to the Leopards, if our lads were in this situation in any season over the past 25+, we’re trekking back to the Woo with a big, stinkin’ “L”.

The Fordham defense isn’t close to what Laffy threw at us today The Laffy offense isn’t close to what Fordham might do to our CBs and safety’s If we mail it in vs Fordham we will pay a price We won’t

That was said based on the way FU played defense last week. They are getting a bit better. Today LC was better on D than the Ram defense was last week,.

Sluka can't be trusted. Except in the clutch. He specializes in game winning touchdown passes. Not bad for the team's leading rusher.

No offense to Laffy, but this was our "WTF" game of the year....with 3 straight home games at Fitton and a game at GTown...I don't see that happening again in the regular season.

No excuse for the performances by the D or QB today Agree about the D and the O in general, but on fourth and 16, Sluka threw a dart to Shorter for the win. He was not good for most of the game, but his offensive line was totally outplayed. He had one 25 yard run. That wound up being his net total on about 12 rushing attempts, counting sacks and being forced out of the pocket.

Sluka won the game at the end. Anything else he gave us, which wasn't much, is gravy.

Re: Derek’s missed “chip shot,” the snap was low and to the side of Patrick the holder and that was the cause of the missed FG.
And let’s not paint the whole Crusader team as having a bad day. Special teams did pretty well and could be argued Devin’s blocked punt for 6 points was the difference. Believe we generally had better field position.

Back from a beautiful afternoon in the Lehigh Valley. Excellent turnout of HC fans. Sluka just never seemed comfortable, whether it was the sun glare in the 1st quarter or the ferocious pass rush. But he got it done with a bullet pass late in the game. Definitely some foolish penalties on the HC side. I think the defense misses Dobbs, but the LC offensive line was able to open some big holes at times. Some really impressive running as well. LC is a well-coached team and will likely win out the rest of the way in my view. Overall, HC will need a much better effort next week. The post-game discussion and highlights from the Lafayette site. I think John Leone used to be the basketball coach at LC. goleopards.com/news/2022/10/22/football-leopards-battle-no-6-9-holy-cross-into-fourth-quarter.aspx

And do not forget the abominable 99 yards in penalties, including 3 totally unnecessary( 2 meanings here) roughness calls

Penn looked fantastic yesterday and Laffy held them to 12 points. Princeton to 23. I am not worried considering our multi-dimensional offense (although they do have the week to prepare as well) and their anemic offense. I can see us scoring on special teams with a punt block (they will be punting a lot) and I can see our D scoring a TD. Just going to leave this pre-game analysis here haha!

Today's game with a victory, put some balm on my psyche for the lost that HC had in 2014 to Albany. I still mutter regarding the bone head play to run the ball instead of taking a knee to let the clock wind down. ualbanysports.com/news/2014/8/30/209629598.aspxCoach Chesney and staff made the right decision to take a knee during the last series to end the game. They must have seen the game video from that lost. If HC had fumbled on the last series today, and Lafayette scored, I would now be in a padded room with a broken foot, babbling incoherent words.

Patrick may have been distracted looking at the right side of the Lafayette line, where I believe two of their players appeared to be unblocked with a clear shot at blocking the attempt. Derek pulled it right to compensate for the possible block on his left side.
