Just watched the documentary on Holy Cross nemesis, Jeremy Lin's out-of-nowhere NBA career. Those of us who saw him play for Harvard against the Crusaders probably weren't surprised about what he pulled off in the NBA but so many others were shocked at his talent.
If you get HBO/HBO Max, it's only about a half hour and well worth watching.

I got to see Lin twice in person against us.
Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2008 in Cambridge. 30 point triple double (or he just missed with 8 steals or something, can't remember). Was first time we'd lost to Harvard in a while at that time.
Then in 2009 he absolutely dominated the Hart Center in our home opener...eye opening. Everyone there can recall "the dunk".

According to the documentary, he was California POY but he had no basketball scholarship offers. He was accepted to MIT & Harvard and decided on the Division 1 option

Since it was one of the few high points in recent years for the NY Knicks, I do recall enjoying "Linsanity"

Lou, I don’t know the division levels in CA high schools but it seemed to imply he was in a low division so he was the proverbial big fish in a small pond.
But he certainly was someone who was underrated his whole life. But he was amazing at Harvard- at least when they played us. Pretty unstoppable.

Was at the 2009 game (FHCSK’s first game as HC head coach) and saw (and remember) the “dunk”. HC failed to box out the shooter (Lin) on a missed free throw which, IIRC, bounced off the front rim and landed in the middle of the free throw lane . Lin pounced on the ball, took one step to the hoop and dunked. Only time I’ve seen that particular play in over 60 yrs. of watching hoops.
