Not a major title anywhere but in Worcester...but it is a start. The men won every event and had the top individual performer. (This is a meet where HC men were typically 2nd or 3rd in most past years so this is a step forward.) Congratulations to all team members and their coaches.
Holy Cross tallied 700 points while fellow City of the Seven Hills schools WPI (532) and Clark (225) rounded out second and third place. The Crusaders last won the Worcester City Championship back on January 21, 2012.
As a team Holy Cross won every event; individual and relays. Freshman Jack Sorenson was selected as the Male Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual races (200-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard back) and three relays (200-yard medley, 400-yard free, 400-yard medley).
WOMEN: Holy Cross totaled 701 points for the four peat bettering WPI (387), Assumption (387) and Clark (127), all schools located in the Heart of the Commonwealth. The Crusaders four straight championships started back in 2018-19, continued in 2019-20, and had a break in competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020-21 before winning last year (2021-22).
As a team Holy Cross won every event; individual and relays. Junior Greta Walting was named the Female Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual races (100-yard breaststroke, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard breast) and four relays (200-yard free, 400-yard medley, 200-yard medley, 400-yard free).
