We don't discriminate against the non-D1s, right? "Tyler McGregor....." -- sounds like a sibling of our guy who made the WCHC call in 2006.

Some kid held up a huge sign last week that just said "U-ASS". Fordham football team seems to be well represented at most of the games. They were honored at halftime on Wednesday for their NCAA appearance. A few of the players have been wearing their Fordhan helmets in the stands every game. Maybe they're like "BD" in Doonesbury....didn't matter what he was playing football or not, every frame had him wearing his helmet.

A fun student section at sporting events can be a highlight of the college experience for many at schools that have such a thing. HC has yet to master this consistently with the exception of when the football team rolls up and makes a student section and actually gets into the game. Hoping the athletic dept at least makes an effort to have one large section at Fitton in the Fall and herd all the students in there and give out T-shirts and encourage them to stand the whole game. As it is now, they’re scattered all over and half watching the game before they head back to the tailgate.

As it is now, they’re scattered all over and half watching the game before they head back to the tailgate. One thing I'd like to see if Fitton ever gets redesigned is the elimination of that aisle at the bottom of the stands. Having people walking to and fro during the game is very distracting unless you want to climb many rows back (which, in those stands, is steep and not easy for a lot of folks my age; God willing, I'm not one of those, but nevertheless). The other side of the field doesn't have that issue.

This Portland-Pepperdine game from a week ago was crazy too. Meant to post it earlier. All started with the guy making a driving layup and getting fouled with under 2 seconds to go! Reminded me a little of the tragic ending to Milan Brown's final game at HC. Up 3, under 10 seconds. Eric Green was the culprit. Allowed Bucknell to tie the game and win it in OT. Aside from whether that win would or wouldn't have saved Coach Brown's job (my guess is they needed to win 2 or 3 more to do so); the tragedy was that Eric blew his knee out in the OT and missed virtually an entire year.

It wasn't quite as egregious a foul as that. Hass actually got fouled by Green with exactly 25 seconds left, giving him a 3-point play. Had he only got two points, there would have been lots of fouling in the final 25 seconds and one or more Bucknell shots to try to tie the score. Btw, in the final 14 minutes of that game, Dave Paulsen possibly did the worst job of coaching ever seen in the PL. He stubbornly left 6-0 (maybe) Ryan Frazier on Miller for about 12 minutes, and Miller was able to take advantage of the huge size mismatch to score repeatedly. Frazier had little help as well in the DP defense. Finally after Miller had converted four 3-point plays in about three minutes, Paulsen switched to Steven Kaspar as the defender for the final 2:30. Kaspar did a much better job - or the game wouldn't have got to OT.

Unlike the current team, the only weak foul shooter that played a lot was Green.

Bill Coen probably had chances to move on and didn't; had some very good teams in his tenure there (which, I'm sure, has a chance to end badly in a month).
Pridgen's team is one game from last place. If they end up in the basement, he'll have accomplished a "Pick 4"; four college seasons, four last place finishes. No one at Holy Cross has done that!

American lost to the northern BU by 21 last night. They have now lost 8 of 11 after a 12 and 3 start which included some pretty decent wins.

It is hard to undrstand what happened to American. I also see the irony of 4 last place finishes for Pridgen, but it does show that actions have consequences. Since he jumped ship, at least no one from Holy Cross has done that.

American's cold streak has suddenly brought #6 back into play - and with it the bye out of the play in round. I thought that ship sailed with the double loss to Navy and Lafayette last week. A win over BU tomorrow and HC is tied with American, wlth American holding the tie breaker

It was a 22 point win in case that matters to anyone out there. My bad.

La Salle knocks off Richmond tonight. They now have won 5 in a row and are quietly working their way up to the top third of the A10 standings. Only 3 games behind first place VCU.
Seems like a down year for the A10. But given where La Salle was just a year ago, Dunphy and the Explorers should be very happy.
