We've had our issues at HC, but not quite as bad as the past two seasons at Lafayette (3-19). Football Scoop is the first to report: footballscoop.com/The-Scoop/My bet is that either Tim Cramsey or John Loose is at the top of the list. Would Kevin Higgins return to the PL?

BTW, this makes TG the longest tenured head coach in the PL (13 years).

Would a top hire put Lafayette ahead of HC also ?

Lafayette has a big advantage over HC in that they have an ancient nearby rival (Lehigh) that enjoys healthy interest and that demands the continued existence of fball at Lafayette.

The fact that Tavani was fired is somewhat good news imo....it shows that PL schools won't accept poor results in football to some extent.
I don't want to wish ill-well on anyone but D1 sports are D1 sports...the head football coaches at these schools are hired to produce, above and beyond just "molding young men."

I'll add to that my opinion that 13 years at most programs is long enough. Nothing personal.

CTG goes 9-26 over 3 seasons ('12 -'14) and gets an extension. You really can't make this stuff up. We should be well into our rebuilding phase with a new coach going into his third season.

Lafayette has some of the best facilities for football in The Patriot League. They should be able to do better

I can't say that I've paid all that much attention to Lafayette, but from what I've heard their PTB can give ours a run for their money in terms of not embracing sports. Kind of surprised that in terms of rebuilding Fisher Field and Kirby someone was able to get the job done.

As for a run for the money, Lafayette in 2014-15 spent $700,000 more on football than did Holy Cross; most of the difference likely reflects having more players on scollies. Holy Cross spent $600,000 more than Lafayette on M/W hoops. As both schools award the same number of scollies, the most likely reason for most of the difference is coaches compensation.

PP- The compensation for HC's mens head bball coach has historically been an outlier (on the up side) in the PL. Yes?

According to the Lafayette board, Mickey Fein may have the inside track as their next head coach. Fein is the current OC.
Would be a curious hire in my mind, hiring the guy who ran a very pedestrian offense for the last several seasons. Fein is from Barnstable, Mass (h/t to indianhoop) and a 1999 graduate of Maine.

Would be a curios choice for sure - but I think it's unlikely it wifi happen. It is a rumor that has apparently been heard by one poster. Source unknown.

If the rumor is true, Fein strikes me as a small money hire. What might make the rumor credible is if Fein would be a de facto interim, and the 'real' next head coach at Lafayette awaits the recommendations of the special committee that is examining how to make Lafayette more competitive in the PL.

Not to change the subject, but I have a question that IH/87 might know the answer to: maybe 15-20 years there was a hoops player named Fein who transferred from Stonehill (down in that area of SE Mass) to Georgia Tech. Wondering if this coach is a relative.
