Disappointing result for the Terriers and the PL - Yale is now 6-6 and is not expected to challenge the top of the Ivy Not many significant OOC wins for PL teams so far - HC has a real chance to repeat if they stay healthy

HC is going to have a chance at it for sure. That's our good news. For the league, the downturn in coaching is hurting.

With UVM’s pasting of HC I was hoping their next game would be better than this - Albany 60 UVM 46

With UVM’s pasting of HC I was hoping their next game would be better than this - Albany 60 UVM 46 I was there. UVM was pretty much the same as they were against HC missing layups but didn’t have the size advantage inside against the Swedes that lead Albany. Game was played at Hudson Valley CC as Albany’s gym is being worked on

Looked like Bucknell was hanging with Boston for a while, but completely collapsed by the end of the 3rd and all of the 4th quarter. Lehigh playing Colgate right now, interesting game so far. American and Loyola will be interesting later, American's murderous OOC and resultant record might be a misnomer to how they do in league play.

Colgate 69-59 over Lehigh. Quality win Lehigh continues to confound.

Lehigh plays like it's an AAU weekend. No coaching approach today either other than to just run, push and jack up threes. When they had to execute in the last two minutes they couldn't do it. It's not what they do. Colgate was very smart to not get caught up in their pace.

AU 52- Loyola 37, a close game til the last 5 mins or so when Loyola could hit anything, AU wins the 4th qtr 20-9. The PL is a very challenged offensive league this year. A lot of low scoring ugly games so far.

A lot of low scoring ugly games so far. The game across the board, even top 20, is mostly offensively challenged. Coaching brain drain over last 30 years down through the high school level is manifesting itself. Much less skill development camps around, now just camps where kids play games most of time. Amazing amount of younger coaches hired in last couple of decades, especially in last 4 or 5 years and teaching skills are being lost or just not at the same level.. The result is less execution, lower scores. We can see kids hit threes from the logo on ESPN though. I am hopeful for the new generation of teachers/coaches to grow better over time. But we aren't living in that era yet. In the meantime, we'll see more "upsets" and folks will label it parity in women's hoops. IMO it's not, it's just a lowering of the standard of play. For us in the PL, it will make for an interesting league season this year and probably for several more with unexpected results.

The big upset on the weekend was Harvard beating Princeton. It was the Tigers first Ivy League loss since Feb. 2019. Harvard had a very good crowd on hand with 1278.

It was 35-20 at halftime in favor of the Great Danes. UVM proceeded to outscore them 17-7 in the third quarter to make it a 42-37 game heading to the fourth. Albany then responded in the fourth with a 18-9 quarter.

Best mid major game of the year Columbia at Princeton will be on ESPNU Friday night Absolutely. Princeton got caught by Harvard on Saturday as they were not ready in the first quarter. Columbia WBB (who I done a ton of work for) has Princeton in their crosshairs and been like that for a few years. Plus the Columbia coach used to be at Princeton before heading to NYC.

Bucknell continues to struggle losing to Lehigh 64-51, but about to start a little easier part of their schedule. BU with a strong performance in win over Lafayette 66-48 Colgate thumps Navy 64-34 Loyola comes from behind to beat AWP 67-48
PL seems to be settling into 3 tiers: 1. HC BU & Lehigh 2. Loyola, Colgate & Bucknell 3. everybody else

Loyola, Colgate & Bucknell 3. everybody else Bucknell’s Cecilia Collins, who is a preseason All-PL selection and who is by far their best offensive player and by far their best defensive player, suffered a foot or ankle injury and was unable to play. She is on crutches and wearing a boot. Cannot put any weight at all on that foot, so I suspect she will be out for a fair amount of time. Without her, Bucknell certainly is not a contender.

Hope Collins recovers quickly, it is always unfortunate when any team's best goes down.

My daughter went to HS with one of Columbia’s stars Kaitlyn Davis - I worked with Bill Gibbons at the time to have her visit HC which she did - BG did not offer her although I doubt she would have come in any case

She is at worst the third best forward in the Ivy League.
