Interestingly enough, Fordham and UNH had three common opponents: both teams defeating Monmouth, Albany and Stony Brook. Of the six total games only one was a blowout, Fordham defeating SB 45-14. In terms of total yardage differential, Fordham had around a +300 margin. Draw your own conclusions from all of this.

I saw UNH shut out Dartmouth, but Dartmouth had an anemic offense this year. UNH also only scored 14 points. I think Fordham might beat UNH handily.

At some point over the last 4 years, I started bleeding purple. This 100% confirms it.
My son graduated in May, no longer plays, yet I'm more interested in this game than the Ohio State/Michigan game. I'm all set for 2 pm.
Won't even try to explain it to my friends, but I feel I'm understood here.
Can't really tell who is going to win this game, but I've attended the last 5 HC/Fordham games and Fordham scares the heck out of me. The first four games, they folded in the 2nd half, that did not happen this year. Add to that, Fordham showed they could run the ball.
Colgate beat Maine, Maine took New Hampshire into overtime and lost by 1. I would rather see New Hampshire.

The weather looks conducive to the Rams passing game being productive - if Sneed and Loughrige team up for their running game, they might be hard to stop

I get some sideways looks when I share that I’d prefer watching Holy Cross v. Fordham compared to the Patriots, big time college football, etc. They don’t understand.

Very interesting match-up....I too am more geeked up for this game than OSU-Michigan....FCS is a terrific level. it may be the level of "D1 misfit toys" but it represents college football as it really should be imo.
I saw a bit of the UNH-Dartmouth game, which was mostly a snooze-fest so I really didn't get a feel for them, but I think the Wildcats may have the overall athleticism/depth to eke one out in Durham this afternoon.

Sluka and the Ohio U. qb were the only Fordham opponents who passed for more yards than Demorat this year (in Fordham's two losses). If this is the key, UNH will be in trouble.

I am rooting hard for UNH.

I'm honestly not sure who to root for. Both teams will give us everything we can handle next week, and maybe then some.

1. I was going to add this as a separate thread but, what the heck, I will put it here. Holy Cross has NEVER won 12 games in a single season. If they beat the winner of the UNH/Rams game on the 3rd it will be win #12 and yet another Chesney historic record at Holy Cross. Now, we did win 13 games in calendar year 2021 due to the delayed 2020 season played in the spring of 2021. We had a 3-1 record in the spring and a 10-3 record in the fall of that year, so 13-4 record. But for me, that counts as 2 seasons. Winning in the 2nd round NCAA playoffs would get us to a never before done 12 wins.
2. Unquestionably, either Wildcats or Rams would be a battle but we've beaten the Rams and DeMorat in a string of victories and the game will be in the friendly confines of Fitton. If we can't get by either of these teams, the competition would be exponentially stiffer in the next round. I believe that with the bye week, our injured MIAs mostly will be back and hopefully darn close to 100%. I would bet Pete Oliver will be back from a probable concussion protocol (I have no personal knowledge, just based on what we saw and the oblique references). I also have a suspicion that we might see the return of Jake Dobbs which would significantly enhance our defense and, more specifically, put much greater pressure on DeMorat which is the key to beating both DeMorat and the Rams. I don't know this, just a gut feeling.

Speaking of gut feelings, I trust that our coaching staff has a very high football IQ. They will have studied our experience with Fordham and devised strategies to improve. I expect us to do better against the Rams, if they are our next opponent!

Home field, extra prep time, plus time to heal and return injured players all bode well for a rematch v Fordham. If it comes down to coaching nuance/adjustments, I’ll take HC.

Home field, extra prep time, plus time to heal and return injured players all bode well for a rematch v Fordham. Or a game with UNH More so with Fordham given the knowledge gained from having recently played them. Gut feeling tells more can be accomplished with the extra prep time compared to prepping for UNH since we already know the base scouting report. Right now they already spent a week preparing for both teams, starting from ground zero with UNH but getting into a deeper level of detail with respect to FU. Fordham can’t start that process until tomorrow, if at all.

Fordham wins 10 statistical categories, UNH 9, and 1 tied. I knew Fordham would have the edge in passing O, total O, 1st downs, but I did not think they would also have more rush yards per game. Both teams have a 1000 yard rusher but UNH is more run heavy. That balance could help Fordham against UNH who brings a good amount of QB pressure with 3 sacks a game. Fordham has a better 3rd down D and a better turnover margin. All signs seem to pont to a Fordham win but UNH has a special teams advantage and whoever wins the field position battle wipl probably win. I think at home, I'll take the defense and special teama of UNH in a tight one. Generate pressure and you win. Stats indicate a Ram win but as my old man says, games aren't played on paper. They are played in "the Dungeon" in Durham in front of playoff hungry fans.
With a healthy defense for HC, we might matchup better against Fordham than the last time, but I think our D fares better vs. UNH at home next week. The only question would be does UNH bring enough pressure like Lafayette to stymie Sluka. If it is outside pressure, Matt seems to struggle. We'll see. I'm pulling for the 'Cats today.
