The announcers on the video stream were complimentary of the Crusaders the whole game and said that even when HC was losing, they were playing better than Albany. UA was frustrated with our D and had we made some close in shots and hit some of those early 3s that just wouldn't fall 'cept MAs, this would not have been a close game. Fortunately, MA and RC combined to lead the team to a W. They would not be denied after the horrible loss to Monmouth.

Starting to come together, baby... Yes, indeed. Another thing to consider is that we were able to win, on the road against a decent team, when two of our three big guns had good/very good games; i.e. we didn't need all three to excel to win. Plus we won after Sunday's collapse. Some teams may have been rattled after a loss like that.

Teams facing HC do not get much time to prepare for the D...and most teams don't have a 1 3 1, so they don't get to see one regularly..It is similar to when RW was coaching, nobody was prepared for the D...Now, top teams will beat it because they have so much more talent and better athletes, think 'Cuse, SC, and Oregon.. Tonight I saw HC double the ball in the corner on occasion, another wrinkle for teams to get ready for, even if HC doesn't use it frequently.. Ziggy is slowly getting better at the D, his rotations on 3 or 4 trips were very late and he didn't drop deep enough. The result was easy hoops inside...It's a lot of distance to cover from the wing to the baseline, and make the correct reads as where to go..

In reading the Albany board, they claim our guy outcoached their guy tonight.

In reading the Albany board, they claim our guy outcoached their guy tonight. It's SO nice to be back on that end of the coaching spectrum. And no disrespect to Will Brown, who's certainly no slouch.

I know I am in the minority here, but I am really liking more and more MH.
Tonight 2 for 4 from 3 (50.0%) and 2 of 5 overall (40.0%). No FTs tonight but 3 rebs and 4 assists and only 1 turnover in 31 minutes.
A reminder of what he is capable of, in the 1/16/16 game against Lehigh at the Hart Center vs. PL MVP, Kempton, fought him almost to a draw:
Kempton: 29 minutes; 7 for 8 shooting; 0 for 0 3s; 6 for 7 FTs; 7 rebs; 0 assists; 2 turnovers, 0 blocks; 1 steal 20 points total
MH: 26 minutes; 8 of 11 shooting; 4 of 6 3s; 3 of 4 FTs; 2 rebs; 1 assist, 0 turnovers, 0 blocks; 0 steals, 23 points total

Albany put up 81 points on Siena and 87 on Penn State. Think the 1-3-1 frustrated them tonight? This was a solid team we beat on the road. Actually. I believe that the match up was as good, if not better, maybe not causing turnovers, but in getting stops.

MH has a beautiful looking shot from three point range--excellent form in the eyes of this non-expert

We won despite not playing well offensively (shooting 3s) or defensively for first 2/3 to 3/4 of the game. We caused enough turnovers to allow us to stay in touch until we got hot from the 3. my favorite stat: 15 assists on 18 hoops--one of our best, if not the best of the CBC era.

Worried about a big let down after Sunday's giveaway, but the boys came through on the road. Congrats to them and the staff. As I've stated before, this senior stacked team is going to be fine!

Interesting stat Despite a very tough first 7 games, we lead our opponents in turnover differential 98-76 the defensive shooting percentages do not take this important stat into consideration we moved up 15 spots in Pomeroy to 208

Interesting stat Despite a very tough first 7 games, we lead our opponents in turnover differential 98-76 the defensive shooting percentages do not take this important stat into consideration we moved up 15 spots in Pomeroy to 208 We have had four excellent defensive efforts in the last five games if you believe in Pomeroy's "defensive efficiency" calculations (basically it is points per 100 possessions, I think) South Carolina= 144 Syracuse= 159 but then UMass= 90 Harvard= 85 SC State= 90 Monmouth= 128 Albany= 84 These are four of the top 8 defensive numbers we have posted since start of last season. Last year we were 12-3 when we had a defensive efficiency below 100

A couple more Pomeroy stats--- last year we finished #308 in offense and #242 in defense. Season to date we are #200 offense and #211 defense
Also--three point shooting--in another thread I set a goal of moving up 100 places from the #256 position we occupied last season, So far, despite a slow start we are at #145.......

The 49 points the Danes scored were the fewest since Dec. 30, 2014 when they were beat at Niagara, 65-47.

"Holy Cross did what they do," Brown said. "They make the game ugly, they run their offense to a 'T," Brown said. "They closed down the driving lanes and dared us to shoot and we weren't willing to shoot. And we turned it over a bit."
Almost sounds like Brown is talking about a Willard-coached HC team.

Just looked at the PxP from tonight. Albany led 40-36 with 7:23 left, and we then went on a 15-2 run over the next 6:43 to lead 51-42. Our defense was so damn good during this stretch. IIRC, we played a bit of match-up during this stretch.

Best stat of the night, the final score 55 - 49. Next best stat, mh'S line. The kid is quietly becoming a big contributor.

Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a very nice road win. I love how the guys are battling in every game. I can't wait for them to put it all together for 40 minutes - somebody better watch out! I had a great time in Albany at the game and the little bar I stumbled into afterwards that had an excellent Grateful Dead cover band. Gotta' love the road trips!!
