We have two Holy Wars from the north and east to start the season and then later comes Fordham from the south likely for the PL Championship, the autobid and hopefully the seed. Georgetown should be a Holy Rout, but that's why they play the games - anything is possible.

A trap game usually is between two games, not the first game of a season.

Well, if anyone was looking ahead to game #2 then game #1 could well be a trap game. Since no one is doing that, IMHO, it will not.

Our just off of D-2 transition "cupcake" on the schedule has turned into a real threat. Merrimack can give our strength of schedule a boost if they beat UMass on November 4th. Very impressed with their program. From a fan perspective I think the series is a great success and certainly is of greater interest than much of our PL competition.

They don't keep attendance records for just the visitors side of Fitton so we will need sharp memories to guesstimate whether the jacked up Merrimack crazies in 39 days are among the largest and most engaged crowds in recent decades.

I like the idea of Merrimack hosting us at Polar Park next year to give us the home game back at Fitton rather than using it at PP. If their crazies show up, could be a fun atmosphere in a month.

BC will be a fun game, but the last time I looked at the schedule, it reads Merrimack is the first game. I am sure they look at our game the same way we think about BC. Taking care of business one game at a time is critical to our success, and it is the mark of a Chesney-coached team. The mark of a Chesney coached team is losing to Bentley on Senior Day.... Foley your posts range from the very insightful to the very bizarre. This falls under the latter category.

The Chesney coached Hounds were so good even a Senior Day loss couldn't dethrone them. Watch out for Anal Retinosis which is looking at life out the wrong end.
HC was so good last season we could have lost the last two games and still claimed the league title and autobid.

OMG!! This NEVER happens!! Other than in 2009 when the Crusader's won the PL championship but dropped the last game against Bucknell (I was there). A very disappointing loss followed up by a close loss to the eventual national champs, Villanova. HC was looking past the Bison and I suspect so was Assumption. Maybe that Assumption-Bentley game is why Coach Chesney learned to play one game at a time.

Observing that a team was so good that they're final game effectively didn't matter because they had already locked up the league is quite the odd "insult."

I remember the loss but not any large, enthusiastic crowd that showed up from North Andover two years ago. Hope that's true this time and is met by an equally pumped up crowd that merely had to walk down the hill.

Maybe that Assumption-Bentley game is why Coach Chesney learned to play one game at a time. Bucknell's win against us in the 2009 finale marked the 2nd time in three years that the Bison knocked off an already-clinched Patriot League champ at home to end the season. They did it to Fordham in 2007 as well. We killed ourselves with turnovers in the 1st half of that Bucknell game. Never should've been competitive -- we absolutely destroyed them in both 2007 and 2008. Had we beaten Bucknell to finish 10-1 in 2009, there were rumblings that we would have drawn UNH in the Round of 16 as opposed to having to play against a Top 4 seed. Not sure if that would've actually happened. We also lost to a decent Brown team on Columbus Day weekend, on a week where injuries in the secondary killed us. The Brown games from 2006-2009 were almost a carbon copy of each other with tons of offense and momentum swings, but with the Bears finally eeking out the win in '09.

Bunch of us got a sort of block (couple of different rows) of 20 ducats in Section QQ at Alumni this morning....I would advise people get tix sooner rather than later, especially if you want to get more than a couple tickets together. Is QQ an HC section or are we making it that ?

Now I don't want to look past Merrimack but I discovered something interesting from BC's ticket website. We have pretty much sold the same amount of tickets as the Florida State game!

Oh and we are in PP on the aisle by QQ. I think the wife really wanted an aisle so that worked well. Behind the HC sideline.

34,325 is the attendance for BC vs Maine last season. Crusader nation should be able to beat that. I have heard anecdotally that students from Northeastern, BU, Babson, PC etc., who don't have football will get together with friends from BC to enjoy a P-5 level football experience with them to check that box. Maybe that happens on a smaller scale at HC with the potential to increase as HC football continues to improve.
The HC Good Time Marching Band and other game day fan amenities should improve in lockstep with the improvements the Coaches and players are providing. The Holy Cross Band situation is an enigma to me. Covid was disruptive but three factors may work in favor of a robust pep band: 1) The new performing arts center should attract more musicians and dancers/performers. 2) Coach Chesney has revitalized HC Football. 3) Coach Paulsen will revitalize and Coach Magarity has revitalized Holy Cross basketball.
I don't remember if there was an HC band presence at the WBB NCAA game in March. Logistically it's doubtful as it was hard enough to get the team there.

The last BC/UMass game was in 2001 in Amherst in front of 12,118. Possibly Covid reduced turnout. BC might be able to play hardball and insist on all UMass/BC games being played at Alumni Field but they don't do that with either regional FBS independents UMass or UConn. I like that.

I also bought tickets in section QQ yday at $50 each - BC's pricing is different depending on the opponent - HC tickets are generally $10 more expensive than their opener vs. Northern Ill.

I, too, will be seated in Section QQ with a friend. That's definitely shaping up to be a Crusader section, but let's turn the entire visiting sideline purple!

Simple supply and demand. How many fans will be coming from Northern Illinois vs. Holy Cross? (Rhetorical question- you know the answer). I am in lower level Q and paid more but this game is a big deal for me.

Parking cost me almost as much. I am sure! Last time we took a free shuttle from Brighton. Apparently they are not offering this anymore so the plan will be to park at Riverside and ride the green line in. On another note, anyone know when HC will release a block of tickets for West Point?

Well UVM band had no issues getting from Columbus Ohio on a Friday afternoon game to Storrs CT for a Saturday game. They got into Burlington at 1am or so and then started the trek to Storrs in the early morning hours on Saturday.
