So I did a dive into the current roster and where the team stands after Signing Day today. I talk with midwest a bunch about this stuff so he can jump in wherever I miss.
Current Roster has 99 - the max is 96, but the team had 3 players who were done this year - Kiessling, Leo and Doran.
There are 38 Seniors on the team. Right now it's my believe the following Seniors are coming back based on what I've heard and the fact that the player didn't take part in Senior day against Bryant: Thomas, Kreimer, Haskins, Forrest, Purdy, Dobbs, Haughney, McMurtie, Hanson, Molton - total of 10. There are 3 still in question that I'm aware of: Morris, Guillemette, Daddona.
So that means anywhere between 10-13 are returning. Which brings the total to 71 to 74 players on a perceived 96 player roster (again with Covid extra years I expect this to be the number and in fact may be the permanent number after Covid extra years).
Therefore on a 96 person roster you'd expect a class of 22 to 25 players depending on if the other 3 Seniors I mentioned return.
I still believe this class will be 26-28 players large. Reasons: I know they still need DBs, they put out a late offer to Oge-Evans as a Defensive End, I think there will be a couple to a few players who leave the program - there always are a few for academic reason, playing time etc. But I think this staff does a phenomenal job of keeping this number low. So I therefore think they will still go after 4 to 6 more players in the Second signing period, as the first signing period will yield 22 players.
Seniors Leaving:
DBs -8 Recruited +4 Difference 4
WRs Difference 1
DL Difference 1
I think they will go after 3 to 4 more DBs; I think they will go after 1 Defensive End - perhaps they will get Oge-Evans. I think they might take a WR and/or RB. Two components we don't know - which positions are leaving, how much scholarship money do they have to spend.
