My sophomore and junior years (George Blaney's first two seasons) were really down years for HC. Senior year we were led to believe that we had signed two great recruits, Chris Potter and Mike Vicens, who would lead us back to greatness. That turned out to be an understatement as they immediately proved themselves to be outstanding players, even better than expected. We're discussing Potter's passing here but I'll also repeat one other factor about his play that has mentioned here a few times: he was the best I've ever seen at guarding the player putting the ball into play, an absolute menace with a big wingspan and very quick reflexes.

I recall seeing Potter & Viciens play in the Worc Aud before the Hart was finished.
A '68 alum, a doctor now living in NC, came to know Dean Smith socially, during his residency at Duke medical and thereafter... Dean told him that CP was the only recruit he really wanted that he did not get.

As I have written here before, I coached against Chris in HS, unsuccessfully. His skills were advanced even then. also a wonderful person.

Hmmmm, maybe we are making a lot of this assists stuff. Just wondering, did AnT get an assist on this basket?:

FWIW: I don't know, but I would not have given him an assist. 1. It was not a pass - it was an air ball. 2. RC took it going away from the basket, turned and then shot.

Can it be a "rebound" if it did not touch anything? (Not being a wise guy...really would like to know.)

Can it be a "rebound" if it did not touch anything? (Not being a wise guy...really would like to know.) Yes. Airballs are still considered field goal attempts. To carry it one step further, if a shot is blocked, then bounces on the floor, then is touched by three or four players fighting for the ball - the player who finally picks up the ball gets a rebound. Every missed shot MUST have a rebound.

Thanks for the help. I guess I was being too literal on the word "rebound."

Considering the home/away difference, Michigan State, #1 in assists to fg ratio, has an 83% at home and 64% on the road. Some home cooking at the Breslin Cemter ?

Well. No high Major Good point You responded to my just deleted post that Michigan State did not play any majors at home and thus more assists, but then I got thinking thst they probably get more offensive rebound put backs against weaker teams to offset some of the the other factors leading to more assists
