As of tonight, the narrative has been flipped…..The greatest mistake in Holy Cross sports administration…..”Not presenting a quality and winning presentation to the ECAC selection committee “. 🤬😡😡😡😡😡😡😡.
We can now bury the Big East discussion regarding what was an ultimate dagger regarding a lost opportunity.
Two National Championships this week by Connecticut D1 teams!

Unlike the other NCAA men's sports, D1 hockey is a niche sport where small schools can win national titles. Champions in the last decade include Union, Providence, Minn-Duluth (2x), Denver (2x), and Quinnipiac. None of these schools have D1 football programs and just one (QU) fields a D1 baseball team.

How about the "F" word, Facility? HC spent the money...on the Luth. Would you have redirected all or most to a hockey arena worthy of the ECAC or H.E.?

The decision to build the Luth in its present form came years after the ECAC discussion and site assessment.
The ECAC committee rejection was not solely based on the state of the rink at the time. HC could have gained admission at the time if a credible presentation had been made to the committee with how incremental improvements would have been made.
Fortunately, after the ECAC rejection there was a critical assessment that a facility upgrade to the Hart Center was needed to benefit not just hockey, but all intercollegiate sports. Efforts are currently underway to continue improvement over the next 10 years to the hockey rink, as well as softball and lax.

Providence is a national contender in Men's Soccer and the entire Big East is committed to the sport it seems with Georgetown, UConn, and St. John's also having rich traditions. And Denver also contends in Men's Lacrosse at the national level.

Yes. We are both miles away from legitimately competing nationally, but also not far from competing with the very best for 60 minutes. Against Quinnipiac this season, despite losing 4-1, we trailed 2-1 late in the 3rd. They scored an ENG and a PP goal in the final two minutes. Shots were also pretty even for the game.

We got past AIC in the AHA tournament this year who seemed like a juggernaut.
