Al Halper coached women's track and XC for more than twenty years, leaving when the job was made full time and conflicted with his teaching responsibilities in the Worcester Public Schools. He coached at other local colleges thereafter. In the early to mid 80s he coached Holy Cross Hall of Famers Mary McNaughton '87, Julie LeClair '86 and Jackie McNiff '83.
Al dressed, let us say, colorfully. The obituary includes a photo with him in a HC purple suit and memorial gifts are to be made in his honor to Holy Cross women's track and cross country.
