While I prefer not going to Polar Park, I understand why it's done from both HC and WooSox perspectives. As for enhancing the Worcester community relations, I'd prefer if there had to be a game other than Fitton, that it was in some municipally owned place rather than a for-profit location.

The municipality of Worc owns Polar Park.

Guess I got lost on the curve. I understood that Worcester helped finance most of it but still thought WooSox were legal owners. So, they are tenants?
OK, I just jumped on the EBW bandwagon!! 😂

Just a quick refresher on our group’s thoughts on playing football at Polar Park as we approach this year’s game vs Harvard

I just wish they could add a few thousand more seats for football. Not possible though.

I wonder how the players feel about it? If it is somehow a positive to play an “event” game, I would give that some weight.

How about students? I know of a few going and I wonder if it is a good "event" to pre-game, hop on busses, and head on over to the grassy berm.

Don't look for the Crusaders Football game at Polar Park to end any time soon. The stadium has come no where near hosting the number of non baseball events that were originally promised. Back in 2018, the venue was projected per the city's own website to host upward of 60 non baseball events that were to include "large-scale" events/concerts, road races, collegiate/high school sporting events, fireworks and other community events. This projection has since been removed from the site and to my knowledge, there is still yet to be a large concert held there. High school graduations and football games seem to be the most common events that have been held there. The annual Holy Cross football game is very likely the most attended non baseball event at Polar Park each year by quite a large margin.

I like the concept of it for a few reasons...good cross (no pun intended) promotion, gives us a night game, gives us an event, I would suspect it may get more students to attend. If our program stays prominent it could even develop into an exclusive ticket...while we all want to freely attend HC games, wouldn't it be cool if at some point we can consider ourselves lucky to score tickets to a particular game? That likely will never happen again at Fitton, but there could be a time when demand dwarfs supply at Polar Park. Also, on the flip side, in down years (when they return 25 years in the future!) it may be something that draws people to the game when the product on the field does not. Finally, as someone who is not attending the game, I also appreciate that it affords us the chance to start much later in the day...the noon starts, and even last week's 2:30 can be challenging to watch while navigating everything else there is to do on a weekend. 5:00 limits what it impacts, at least for me.

A concert promoter wearing a green eyeshade hunched over his adding machine isn't as concerned about his public image as Holy Cross is. I think you're indicating that Polar is an expensive facility to stage an event at. If Holy Cross can sell the place out that has it's own special quality and playing another team from the Boston TV market at the region's still newest ballpark hopefully has some in-State multiplier effect to the positive publicity HC receives from playing it's annual game there.

I needed to purchase an additional ticket for Saturday’s game yesterday and found that there were many unsold seats in my section (9). Therefore the capacity of Polar Park is not an issue, at least this year.

I would suspect by game time it would be close to sold out, but thats premised on 2 things 1) pure speculation, and 2) the further pure speculation that aside from regular posters on this board, most HC fans do not make a point of buying tickets too far in advance for their games

Last year other football teams played at Polar Park on Sunday. Are there other Worcester area teams scheduled this year to play at PP either this weekend or next? The goal should be a Football Festival Weekend.

Worcester Academy is playing Berkshire early on Sunday at 11am.

"showers in the morning, clearing in the afternoon". 5PM start works out real nice, I think Based on the pictures from those games, those numbers really do appear wildly inflated. It sounds as if HC is counting thousands of free tickets given to the public schools whether anyone that has access to use them or not. University of Richmond used to do same, recording a string of “sellouts” driven by flushing out free tickets when the stadium was rarely three quarters full. It’s a smart play by HC. When it comes to the playoffs, showing numbers like that will help if needed for a possible home game.

Polar Park has dramatically improved the finances at the Irish Club.

Don't know how many tickets were distributed to WPS, but I suspect only a small fraction of those receiving a free ticket actually sat in the stands.

Was at the game and while it appeared there was a pretty good contingent of HC students (for some reason, there were none on the baseball field tailgating - oh, yeah, it was closed on account of bad weather that never happened. ), I saw precious few Worcester kids. Unquestionably, the attendance included all those free tickets given out but not used as the weather was supposed to be very bad - but wasn't. I personally had 10 tickets (4 season tickets purchased and 6 comps) but used only 3. If we choose to use me as a guide, 30%, so if 30% of tickets sold were actually used, the 12,000 attendance had about 3,600-4,000 actual people and that looked pretty accurate.

Hope there is plenty of IriJohnnie's. Hope the bands are fantastic. We should get them to play at our game. Really stick it to the Johnnies. If I wasn't driving an hour and back on Saturday I'd consider going out to the festival.

Harvards football fan base is a joke. Do they ever bring away fans anywhere. None of the Ivy teams do. So this is all HC fans. I think the first Polar Park game will always be the most crowded. Even though this is a ranked matchup.

Parking at the Irish Club on Temple St. is only $15. Outdoor bar available for cheap pre game drinks/food. Great deal.
