I just received this from HC:
It is with great sadness that I write to tell you Fr. Tony Kuzniewski, S.J., passed away peacefully at 10 p.m. last night at Campion Center in Weston, MA. Fr. K was a beloved figure here at Holy Cross for so many years, and had an impact on all who knew him. He will be very much missed.
Arrangements are being finalized; I will share details when they become available. In the meantime, please keep Fr. K and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Maggie

So very sad to hear of Fr. K's passing. He will be missed by all. I enjoyed his words and last saw him at a HC-Navy lacrosse game two years ago in Annapolis. RIP Fr. K.

Amid all the banter on the board, I always enjoyed Fr. K reporting in to tell us "the team is safely in Lewisburg", or "its a beautiful day for a game in Bethlehem". He will be so missed. RIP, Father.

Never had him in class - we science majors had little time for a history class - but I will always remember his homilies. They often started with or at some point referenced ...
And he also delivered a wonderful homily at my 25th reunion Mass in 2010 that had nothing to do with his boyhood. A classmate, Tom Burke, died in the World Trade Center on 9/11/01 and his wife, also a classmate, was there with their children. Fr. K's words that day, to all of us, were very calm, comforting and so very hopeful.
In an article following the dedication of Kuzniewski Field this spring, he said the following
He cherished family and Holy Cross' students were an extension of his nuclear family. Now re-united with his mother, father and sister, he is a fine Crusader, priest, and person.
Well done good and faithful servant. Rest in Peace Fr. K.

So sorry to hear the news about Fr. K.
A couple of years ago, I had met with him in his office and showed him my grandmother's birth certificate (from Poland) and marriage certificate (from Worcester - written in Latin). We had a very enjoyable time talking about his background and mine.
He was a wonderful person! May he rest in peace!

A sad day. Of all the classes I took at Holy Cross, I enjoyed his the most. It's not even close.
Was he ill?

As an FYI, here is a redacted copy of an e-mail exchange that I have been having with the Alumni office up at Holy Cross about a possible fund to replace the bell that Fr. K so loved:

As an incoming freshman in 1993 I remember they mailed us a book with our choices for first semester classes. I didn't even have to read the details of what "Kennedy to Watergate" was all about to know I HAD to be in that class. I put it as my #1 selection and to my fortune got in and so was privledged to have had Father K as a teacher. I also took the sequel which was "American Heroism" or something like that. Of all my professors at Holy Cross I best remember Father K. Truly a devoted Crusader all his life. I even liked seeing him at basketball games and when I'd take my kids I would say "hey look there's Father K" and they not understanding would say "who's that?" (and I'd tried to explain thst he was a professor when I was in college and a real legend). Rest In Peace, Father K.
