Remember all, it is not allowed to address the elephant in the room I don't see any elephants, but I do wish Bronny a quick recovery.

I wish I had taken Greek so I could decipher these posts. How about Italian? Italian study of arrhythmia in young athletes. Study was pre-Covid, so no blaming vaccines. www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.118.009171In early July, 2022, an incoming freshman basketball player at USC, Vince Iwuchukwu,, experienced a cardiac arrest during practice. He eventually returned to the team and played in 14 games. An arrhythmia is different than a coronary thrombosis. Coronary thromboses were a rare side effect of J&J vaccine.

"Italian study of arrhythmia in young athletes. Study was pre-Covid, so no blaming vaccines."
I believe there have been many incidents of young healthy athletes having serious heart issues. Not sure some of the posters are blaming Bronny's cardiac arrest on the Covid vaccine. Perhaps they could be more explicit about the assumption they're making (i.e. what's the elephant in the room?) so we can discuss.

You may be right, but it seems like a lot of athletes have been dropping lately - 2 this week. The older I get, the less I believe in coincidences! According to this study from 2016, the incidence of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Athletes is between 1 in 40,000 and 1 in 80,000 a year. There is about 8 million High School athletes just for some numbers. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4969030/

Since 2014, the NCAA has required someone certified in CPR, first aid and AED (Automated External Defibrillation) to be present at all countable athletic activities,
From the WaPo in 2017,
Automatic External Defibrillators are required by MA and NY at all school athletic events. I daresay their presence, where not required by law, would rise to the standard of care elsewhere for at least those sports with a comparatively higher incidence of cardiac arrests.

We have no clue what caused this or even what it was exactly.
At least, there will be no economic pressure on the young man to continue to play if the evaluation(s) indicate he shouldn't. Several generations of the James family will live quite comfortably off of Lebron's collective earnings.

Remember Hank Gathers, Reggie Lewis, RIP. I gotta confess, when people mentioned the elephant in the room, COVID vaccine wasn't the first pharmaceutical that popped into my mind Reggie Lewis and Len Bias R.I.P. This case might have been similar to the high school skier who died at Ward Hill Ski Slope in Shrewsbury when the facility didn't have a defibrillator. USC responded immediately with current equipment and trained staff.

My first thought was that this was horrible, When someone mentioned the elephant in the room, my mind jumped to steroids, which might not be uncommon in athletes and screws up your heart. I think steroids are way more associated with heart issues than COVID vaccine, but way more people got the vaccine than take steroids. Of course someone else brought up Reggie Lewis which sent my mind to yet another pharmaceutical. When something like this happens to a young kid, seemingly in the prime of health, I think it's human nature to want an assignable cause. Cardiac arrest doesn't happen to teenagers, There has to be a reason. Heck, otherwise it could happen to my kid. Actually, I'm still not 100 percent sure what the elephant in the room is, other than hoping for some assignable cause

The elephant in the room (or on Twitter/X, it's the blue whale in the backyard pool) is that a multitude of people ranging from the educated to the conspiracy theorists think that the COVID vaccine is contributing to young people suddenly dropping dead. Otherwise healthy (or so it outwardly seemed), compelled to take a vaccine for a virus that wouldn't likely cause them significant harm, young athletes are succumbing due to the cure for an illness that posed little threat to them. That's the narrative. I'm not saying I'm on one side of this argument or not at this time.

It was really only "The Decision" that irked me. LeBron can sound preachy, but who can't? Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Bronny. It was having a Jussie Smollett event that the media conveniently never pursued and bending the knee to Chinese dictators, among other things, that irked me.
