Not to pile on ... actually yes to pile on
Was not a fan of the HC students and the BC students chanting F*@k HC/BC at one another but given the times we live in, the competitiveness of the game and the overall environment, I kind of get it.
What I did not get was a couple of women students from BC saying it to HC fans as they passed on the walkway outside of the stadium before the game started. They were not chanting it, just saying it as they passed every single HC fan. When they said it to me I turned around and yelled - Very Classy.
And one other note - Holy Cross is not the only place with concession issues. At least on the upper level of alumni Stadium, concessions can best be described as weak. A very Hart Center-esque selection of hot dogs, soft pretzels, beer, soft drinks, water and bags of chips. That's it.
After BC scored their 3rd TD with about 1:30 left to halftime, ran down to a couple of hot dogs for my daughter & I to have something a bit more substantive to eat. When I got to the front, I was told they did not have any ready. What??? About 5 minutes (real time) to half time and you do not have a single hot dog cooked? Oy vey!
At least at Fitton they have upgraded with the food trucks.

On the plus side, concessions were 50% off prior to kickoff. Thought that wasn’t a bad way to try to get people in the stadium before the game starts.

And when I went down during the break, every kiosk was closed, Nada, We snuck into the Chemistry Building and found a vending machine during the break. Someone could have made a lot of money selling concessions during that break.

Post from a BC message board --
"I remember the thugs of Miami under Howard and Jimmy. I always hated those teams for how they represented their school. Our players are acting similar -- except they have no where near the talent of those Miami teams. I never thought I would use the word "shame" . . . ."

Supposedly Castellanos made some lewd gesture at one point- I retract my approval of his competitiveness if that was the case. I'm rooting for a lot of sacks this weekend in their game.

If you watch the ACC condensed highlights posted somewhere here, you can see a quick glimpse of him grabbing his crotch. I was VERY surprised that the ACC didn’t excise it out. The view is from behind him but clearly that was what he did and the ref was right in front of him no more than 3-5 feet away.
It was either just stupid, bad judgement or both.
Not even sure what the gesture was supposed to mean but likely he also said something.

For what it’s worth he may not play. Hafley may go with the QB with the better arm (Morehead). Of course, Florida State can certainly sack him too.

The thing that bothered me about Hafley is that he did not discipline Castellanos in any way during the game after the taunting and the gesture with his man part. Then he gets in the postgame press conference all fired up saying Castellanos and anyone else who does that stuff isn’t going to play. Well, you let him keep playing every play for the rest of the game. And then, you send him out to meet the press after the game as your team representative. I know how kids react to talk without action from their parents. Pretty sure the same thing applies here.

Are we surprised that BC is still the most undisciplined team in the country after tough talk but no action from Hafley last week?

Not to offer absolution (that power has not been granted unto me) but during the BC broadcast yesterday they said Castellanos was given a number of options of punishment and one was to call the HC AD to apologize, which they said he did.

Kinda think a call to Bob Chesney would have been more appropriate and to our players as a whole. But, then again, I've not been in that position, so what do I know?

From what I know (I have loose connections to the BC football team) Hafley wasn't aware of the masturbation gesture until after the game.
Make of that as you will, but I'm inclined to believe it.

The kid made the jester to one of our coaches. I know how I would have handled that situation back in the day but I regress.

He must have known about it before he sent him out there to represent the team in the press conference, right?

Hafley is on a very hot seat-- he will create plausible deniability whenever possible for his decisions and actions by players.
