‘Gate- Illinois, Arizona, Syracuse( congrats to Red Autry for scheduling this after last season’s result) HC- Georgetown, BC, St. John’s And Elms vs Vt. State Except for roughly a decade ending in 1994 (and a random year or two before that), Syracuse has played Colgate. Overall, they've met 174 times. While it's always possible that Syracuse might pull the plug at some point in the future, I think the Colgate series will continue for years to come. And, for what's it worth, it isn't only last season. I believe the 'Gate has a two-game winning streak at the Dome.

Yeah, Cuse schedules the two other D1 schools in Central NY (Cornell and Colgate) pretty much annually.

Having lived in Central NY, as far as D-1 schools, it isn't like Boston/Worcester/Providence. Not a lot of schools to pick from. Though I pretty much detest Syracuse U from the "Roll 'em up, Benny" days and didn't get any cozier in my 9 long winters in the area, I salute them for doing this.

Hoops might be working on a great OOC schedule for the future giving us the current additions, plus some of our other BE favorites
We will become a desired school by more of the 3/3+ recruits once this happens, and steal a 4- or two
Excitement builds as we step up in football and hoops, even if just OOC
I believe the younger alumni (under 60) want way more than the PL, and will support the move
Go Cross Go!!!!

So, is your theory that the lack of support for Crusader teams (excluding Saturday's game against BC, obviously) by the students is all or predominantly because we are in the PL? I've posted in the past that I believe the athletics' audience should be, in order: 1. for the current students and their families (who are paying the freight) 2. for the alumni (all ages! ) (who are paying the next highest amount) 3, for the locals 4. for the faculty/staff Based on my unscientific observation of football and basketball, the largest contingent is from the alumni group, not the students. For some of the non-revenue sports, small crowds but usually the families of the players. Others may have a different perspective. '92 might have som,e thoughts on this.

It seems to me that there are more locals than alumni attending basketball games. Either way, it would be great to ramp up attendance from all the groups. Maybe the new era will make it happen.

Of course I do It is not an event to attend in any meaningful way No rivalries Nobody nationally ranked Students don't really care unless it is an event Approximately 25% of the school population/non football play their own sport and unavailable Community does to a degree but NE remains driven by professional sports Faculty lack of interest and support is the reason we call it entertainment and rarely can reach above 12k in attendance or 1k for hoops Did I miss something Oh yes, the majority of the faculty and probably the Administration don’t believe in athletic With all of that said, we need to figure out whether the PL, Big East, A-10, MAAC, CAA, MAC, or other options are best for HC Do we create an NIL for major sports How do we use and build the CAF How are all of the CAF Dollars used

Now that Lemoyne College has gone division one, that gives them another local team to schedule. They have history of beating Syracuse while still a division two team!

I like LeMoyne!💜
Fr. O’Halloran went from HC to there as president. Posted in the past that I had some LeMoyne students working for me part time and complained that the work was harder when he took over because “he’s trying to make LeMoyne another Holy Cross!” 😂

I like LeMoyne too. Primarily because former player Mike Smiley'05 was an assistant coach there for a while

Well, as I'm sure I posted before and mentioned to Central NY native ChuChu this past week that when I moved there, the first thing the locals told me is "we have two seasons: winter and the 4th of July." First long 4 day Christmas holiday and weather report was "flurries. 10" that day, something like 14" the next day and maybe 8" of snow the 3rd day. I have 8 mm movies (prior to videos) of my slightly under 5' tall wife shoveling snow that was over her head. (Yes, I was shoveling too, you wise guys, but stopped to take the movies for the archives). It was our first house and didn't have two nickels to rub together but told my wife, "I don't care if we have to sell the kids, we're getting a snowblower." She agreed. (No, we did not have to sell the kids ).

Was in Syracuse with a couple of guys for an HC football game. We went to LeMoyne seeking a night's lodging. The students were very friendly and welcomed their HC brothers with open arms. Spent the night in a dorm with other students. Lots of enjoyable, beer infused talk. I like LeMoyne. Syracuse won easily at Archbold. And, it was beginning to snow as we got of town. It was October.

😊 It snows in June - but doesn’t accumulate or stick. And snow is nature’s natural fertilizer due to the nitrogen so that when the snow finally melts, the grass is really green. 😊

That may be the best spin I have ever heard on Syracuse winters.
