She sounds as though she will fit right in for/with our Crusaders!

With this year’s team showing some serious deficiencies, let’s pick up the discussion of how the staff is planning on replacing the 4 graduating seniors - so far we have two commitments and it’s getting very late to add more. It’s the portal or bust for coach MM

I'm not convinced that they will add anyone, assuming all the current underclasswomen return. During MM's previous 3 seasons they have only carried 12 players, and rarely during the scholarship era have they carried 14. I would hope they do add either a shooting guard or a big whether from the portal or HS. (PS: I don't know Griffins status, whether a walk on or scholarship). The current skid might change their thinking.

If indeed there are no add’l recruits the 24-25 roster will be very limited - but at the same time, I agree that we should not act desperate and sign just anyone - some decisions ahead for MM

They need to add another facilitator type guard for next season or else the program will suffer like it hasn’t in years.

Can ‘facilitators’ shoot ? I have to admit that getting another pass first PG is the least of their problems

The nine teams behind HC must have huge problems. We saw the season ended by the CDC before the PLT semi-finals during Lauren Manis' senior year and the PLT lost by a last second fluke shot in Avery's senior year, so hoping we can see BPC, Cara, Janelle and Callie put a ring on it in their senior year and look forward to Flannagan, Foreman, Berger and the rest keep it going next year with a coaching staff a year more experienced in working with them.

I think this would fit in the "recruiting" thread: there's a fine player at Wachusett Regional. I believe she's Bill Gibbons' granddaughter.
Saw her once on TV. Good player with good shooting range. Believe she committed to Navy.

Hope the grandparents can attend if she plays for Navy at the Hart.

Same difference in so far as there being no chance of her wearing purple.

Indeed, it will be bizarre to see the Gibbons & possibly some of the McInerney clan at the Hart wearing Go Navy gear.

Recruiting is very different in the age of the portal. There will be a whole new crop of potential Crusaders out there shortly. And some of our current Crusaders may be seeking new homes for one reason or another. That’s just the way it is in 2024 so not much sense speculating about the 2024-25 roster based on what we know in February 2024.

Has our women’s team felt this portal impact ?

Has our women’s team felt this portal impact ? Not really, only lost Steph Davis (Longwood) & Kerry Flaherty (Catholic U), neither who were major contributors and picked up Callie Wright, who has had moments. May see more movement this year, but who knows. Flaherty has been having a great year as a starter & Catholic is ranked at #10 in D3.

I guess Billy and Bobby aren't old enough to have college age children yet. Still can hear "Say your prayers and go to bed Billy and Bobby" in a post game interview between BG and Bob Fouracre on a winter night from some far off road game.

Kerry should have a second year of eligibility in grad school if there is any justice in this world. She had two red shirt years at HC, plus the Covid year. I doubt Catholic U. cares about medical vs non-medical red shirts. Her's is an admirable journey of self determination. Kerry must have played pick up ball at HC to stay sharp during junior and senior years.

Gough team is in the 4A Championship final tomorrow. She is having a great year, 2nd in scoring & rebs (14 & 8) on her team behind North Carolina recruit Blanca Holmes.

Hopefully we will have a leg up in recruiting in the NJ Shore as I just realized that Coach Greenis the daughter of local coach & talent developer Tiny Green who some might remember from his somewhat over top praise of our players Grace, Meg, Janie & Mary D.

Love Tiny’s work but definitely over the top on some of those Jersey girls. Had no idea his daughter was one of our assistants. Keep that pipeline flowing.

Don’t recall it being mentioned during the three HC-Bucknell WBB broadcast that Meg Cahalan, Jamie Bachmann and Ashley Sofilkanich and Ashley O’Connor, were team mates in high school at St.John Vianney.
Certainly will set a nice feature story over the next two to three seasons of play.

The PL has been a prime landing spot for a number of Shore conference kids in the last few seasons. Mary D & Grace Munt played against all the SJV kids in HS. Others include Lithgrow-AWP a HS teamate of Donnelly, Scognamiglio & Sabino also at Bucknell, Ferguson at Colgate, Antognoli & andrews at Lafayette, Eggenschwiler & McQuillen at Lehigh, the Therien sisters mainly through AAU, Pissott at Navy with more coming in next year.
